I always laugh when people take "healthy food" and proceed to explain that it can still be tasty to eat as long as you proceed to cook it in ways that make it extremely UNhealthy.
The Jedi Master Why I never mentioned fried zucchini. Its all relative. IMO its better if someone uses a 1/10 a stick of butter on a vegi than go and buy a pizza. Ideally, you get away from lots of complex fats over time. And get to using just a tad of soy sauce or something. Which once you retrain your pallet, you find that many common foods are incredibly over salted, way to much fat/oils, insane amounts of sugers. But if that is what you are use to eating, you are not going to go off and enjoy lightly steamed kale with garlic. I cant do no dressing salad. But I also cant handle most off the shelf dressings from the super market. Making your own say, nut based dressing using only the oils in the nuts when ground down is an excellent and vary healthy way to get a good lunch salad in there. Everything your body needs without alot of bad. Just the same, a big fat bowl of tortellini with fatty Alfredo sauce now and then sure is nice. Or my blue cheese based crazy gut bomb mac and cheese. Tastes great....Not good for you.

I don't know if I'd be up to eating food which sat on the plate taunting me with its Fibonacci Series.

I don't know if I'd be up to eating food which sat on the plate taunting me with its Fibonacci Series. Ah, you noticed that? Crazy is it not? You don't see it in stores to often either. My local coop located flat in the Skagit valley sometimes has it. Never seen anyone buy any. But I find it tasty. Better than cauliflower. And fun to stare at.

I was looking for a smallish sort of floor covering to place in front of my door. Could Mr. Wagner help?

Certainly adding dressings are a way to neutralize the health benefits of eating salad. I don't even like the taste of them, and things like mayonnaise or eggs make me sick to my stomach. Only thing I put on my salads is red wine vinegar and extra virgin olive oil and salt.

I burnt a piece of toast the other day, and I would've sworn that Matt Wagner's face did not appear on it.

Bleu cheese, Caesar or Ranch dressing for me please. That stuff is good but for people who eat salads because they are on a diet, it's counter productive. I see people eat salads and say they are not losing weight. Well, if they keep putting heavy dressing and bacon bits and croutons and cheese on their salad, they aren't going to lose weight. They will gain weight!

That would depend on what the salad is replacing. Are they simply adding it to an existing meal? Then of course they won't lose. Are they replacing a vegetable with a salad? Unless they had a large vegetable serving and a small salad, it will not aid weight loss. Is the salad the entire meal? If so, I can't imagine how much they're putting on it that as a meal replacement it's still equal, unless they replaced already small meals with a large salad.
In many cases, portion size control is a better way than to try and totally change it up.

Bacon, croutons, dressing, and cheese turn a pile of bland leaves into delicious.

Bacon, croutons, dressing, and cheese turn a pile of bland leaves into delicious. Well ya....duh. But if your doing the vegi thing for health you negated the whole thing. Except for maybe some roughage to help poo out the tasty stuff. Many salad dressing are insanely fattening and vary not good for you. I would rather have a plate of uber fat than pretend with a salad covered in same uber fat. Whats interesting is that in the past oh 4 years or so when started eating way more fresh vegis and the like, I now have real problems digesting cream, milk, some cheeses, and more heavy sorts of fats. Simple fats like nut based things no issues. I have no lactose issues. And am quite happy my fore fathers ate tons of dairy to give me the enzymes to digest the stuff. But is interesting to note. I still occasionally eat that sort of stuff but know I will pay for it. I simply feel notably better with more energy since really getting into cooking more basic. Gotten really good at it. Every Friday I do some crazy meal for the family. They seem to go nuts over it. But its all based on simple things and lots of fresh vegi's and nuts as fresh from the local farms as I can do. There are rarely left overs and never survive the next day. Not once since starting this have I ever gotten any of my left overs. With portion control... you can eat as many vegis as you possibly want to stuff your gut full. But who does that? My gf got me into juicing as well. I mean with green stuff, not fruit. I dont make them, she does. But wow... energy explosion. After the awful learning process of what makes a good one I try and do one a day. But wow...the early ones where really gross. And wheat grass is nasty, I don't know how anyone consumes that stuff. But its basically a salad in liquid form flavored with carrot or granny smith apples. Never thought I would get into that one. Guess I have gone hippy new age gun touting weirdo. Oh whatever. Its clearly all Matt Wagers fault anyways.

same with me - the cleaner and healthier the diet, the less you are able to cope with "heavy" foods , nowadays, I don't even find appetizing foods that I would eat without thinking twice a few years before, in fact, nowadays there is nothing I like more that eating good Japanese food.
