When this whole CAW project is finished we should all get together and do a SPAW upgrade since we have a hi-res TBF and Devastator, improved lo-res Vindicator and Vengeance, new Japanese skins and much better carrier skins. Wouldn't be much more than a "drop in" upgrade as far as I can tell.

+1 yep

I've taken Capt. Kurt's skin and Chompy's model and updated then to get the 72nd Bomb Squadron's B17E flying out of Midway Island 1942.

Nice one Mike thumbsup

With the B17 I'm using the bomber cockpit with the transparent floor/bomb sight at the moment.

I also need to reset the FM for the extra fuel these guys carried in belly tanks.

Nice. Sure looks better than my generic skin.

Let's see one with the gear down. That was a PITA rendering job and I'd like to see it on a finished model.

Also, Mike, a 2:16 AM post?

Nice work, Mike.

Amazing what can be done with those old lo-res models with a little attention to detail.

I'll fix that rudder this morning and send it over.

PBY is about 1/2 done. Added the landing gear, rounded off all the wingtips and now I'm working on retractable wing floats. Once that's done I have to make the other half of the fuselage using the mirroring program.

Alas, the last couple of days have been real nice here and the tomatoes needed planting so I haven't had time for EAW. I shoudl eb back on schedule by the weekend.

It's been bugging me all week, ever since I saw the film Midway, and now I know why. We have a missing plane!

Quote:
The D4Y1-C reconnaissance aircraft entered service in mid-1942, when two of these aircraft were deployed aboard Sōryū at the Battle of Midway, where both were lost when Sōryū was sunk.
