I started this thread to post info on VR gear. Sorry you don't like it. But the point is that you have multiple posts/links separated by a couple of minutes each......why not just put them in a single post or edit your previous posts? I don't know about anyone else but it comes across as some sort of sales pitch/propaganda. You're the only person on this entire site that I've thought about blocking. The way you post makes me not want to read any of them.......its probably having the opposite effect of what you want!

Anyone who already flies with the DK2? I would be interested on a review from the flight sim perspective, especially how playable is IL2 and COD.
Track IR usually is good enough but what I will like to see is if the plane scaling (due to still to small screens) and drawing distances are improved.
Thanks. I have the DK2, and even with its weak specs, its far more immersive than any monitor/trackIR combination, but the DK2 specs are still not good enough for flight sims. No word yet if the old Crescent Bay prototype specs are good enough. The Valve headset currently doesn't support any flight sims, and no word yet if any combat flight sims are working with Valve. We may hear more in a few months if Valve releases its prototype to all developers. COD and IL-2 aren't currently working on any kind of VR support. DCS WORLD, and WT are the only combat flight sims currently working with VR, and only on the Oculus prototypes. I have high hopes for DCS as they are currently working with the Oculus developers and developing a new graphic engine with VR support called EDGE. BOS has been left behind until they can upgrade their DX9 game engine, which I don't see happening anytime soon. COD hasn't publicly stated any interest in VR. Hopefully when the CV1 comes out they will look at it more closely. It will be interesting to see if the first consumer version VR specs will be good enough for flight sims. Personally I think they will be, but spotting distant aircraft might prove to be difficult for the small percentage of users who don't use ICONS. I will probably require that ICONS can be toggled ingame for offline gaming, as I have difficulty spotting distant aircraft on even the best monitor.

The resolution is no where near good enough for flight sims .....yet. The sense of flight is very good, but the resolution is very poor, so far. A work in progress for sure. IMO VR, as far as flight sims are concerned, is in alpha stage. Its going to be a while before it is good enough for a quality flight simming experience.
it was speculated that you have to go past 4K. (8K to be ideal, and 16K for near human vision in VR) you can wait years till the DCS engine can handle such a resolution, let alone to run it at 90fps + with fidelity turned to high. this is what we have now. HTC oculus. we are even lucky to have these things come out at all. exactly, it will be a good while for a quality experience nice to desktop resolutions. hopefully the situation will change with Windows 10, DCS world 2, and the next gen graphics cards that use 3d stacked HBM memory tech

I would expect more support to VR from those companies. NVidia already has a 3D initiative, at least I hope that IL-2 and COD can be used with future VR products and NVidia Drivers without head tracking. iL2 will not go anywhere VR wise unless it moves out of Microsoft DirectX version 9, and go to at minimum DirectX version 11

Preview: Google Maps on HTC Vive http://vrfocus.com/archives/14254/preview-google-maps-htc-vive/It will be interesting to visit places around the world in a 3D environment. It also proves that Vive is not going to concentrate on gaming as some would suggest, but like Oculus will make the smart decision and be part of a thousand other uses in the huge VR marketplace. That said gaming will drive early development of both VR units.

What I Learned From a Week in Virtual Reality With the recent launch of the Samsung Gear VR, virtual reality finally can be brought home. But do you want it? "From reports of those who’ve used the Vive, it’s a mature technology that not only competes with the current Rift, but in many ways betters it. With Valve and HTC’s Vive set for release in time for the holidays this year, it’s starting to look like Oculus may be blowing their momentum away. Of course, that’s if Valve manages to get it out on schedule. In a Facebook earnings call (via Gamasutra), Oculus’ Rift was just glossed over by Facebook boss Tom Zuckerberg, which was a little odd. Judging from what CFO David Wehner’s said though, it’s unlikely you’ll see any sort of large scale shipment this year. “So we have not announced any specific plans for shipment volumes in 2015 related to Oculus’” he said. “Just note that Oculus is very much in the development stage, so it’s early to be talking about large shipment volumes, and our expense guidance reflects any volumes that we might do in 2015.” http://www.lazygamer.net/virtual-reality...lves-this-year/
