Hi,

I'm just finishing a new Curved Display System. It uses 2 short throw projectors giving you a 180º x 60º Field of View without any bezels to get in the way. All of this at a distance of less than 1m. This also uses the Simpit Technologies Black Pearl Screen.

I'll post some pictures when its ready.

BR

Rich

Hi Guys,

Thanks for the interest. I'm just installing the projectors at the moment, I'll then get the image warped and get some pictures up. You will also be able to follow progress on my Facebook page.

MK3 update. This allows for a 270º FoV as well as making he whole unit much more stable. (not the best image, sorry)

The diameter is approx 1800mm. I will be removing the botton curved bracket in the centre of the screen to allow my Virtual Blade to fit underneath.

Do you know how long the R3volution is?

Yeah, why are there braces around the part where there is no screen? Instead of it being a circular arrangement, why not just have a 270-degree curve?

There are braces all around the unit to keep the whole thing stable and stop it from wobbling. Its circular as you need to mount the projectors on the opposite side of the circle to the screen.

Rich,
According to their website, 158 cm. So, it should fit. Thank for the info.

It's for better stability in environments where it can be easily bumped (big bumps can put projectors out of alignment). The 180 degree or 270 version is suitable for home use (in a corner it takes almost no space)

ICE - it depends on - new ones are usually $750usd per projector and $630 used. If you'll need help finding the best projector for best price let me know

Duuuuuuuuuuude.

That is AWESOME! And it's actually pretty affordable AND looks like it's really space-friendly (a major stumbling block for home sims).

A couple Qs:

-Does it play nice with TIR?

-Is that the 270 or the 180 shown above?

-Different projector setups for the 270 and 180 versions?

-And chance we could get a few shots fully zoomed out, to show the overall size of the unit as a piece of furniture?

-Would it be possible to DIY the frame from plans without advanced CNC equipment? Perhaps basic wood working tools (Table, jig, miter saws, router, etc.)

Here is a few pics. The screen requires perfect curve = CNC. the rest of it can be done with jigs and skill saw

This one is 180º for 2 projectors and 270 is for 3 projectors.

TIR or any head tracking is absolutely awesome (mainly for x,y,z tracking )and if I'm not filming it is always on
