anyone with a history of serious mental health issues such as suicide should not ever be allowed to fly commercial aircraft Um...so how many times had he committed suicide before this? You knew what he meant. If so, why did you bother pointing it out? Oh right, you are joyless. The Jedi Master

but a determined crazy person will always find a way. Sad but true. However, the fact that Lufthansa knew beforehand the medical history of this pilot means that this specific tragedy could have been avoided. He should have been barred from flying at that time but wasn't.

what is typical of our society is that until he is a muslim middle eastern guy, our medias carefully NOT use the term "terrorist" for a young white male of good origin (I am sure he was a good christian) who carefully planned to kill himself and invited to his farewell party 149 other persons who surely were not prepared to follow him into the grave.

I think the media would have used the term "terrorist" with no reservations if Lubitz had a political agenda behind what he did. Up to now there is no evidence supporting the idea that he had political/ideological motives for what he did.

Depending on what is your definition of a terrorist.... IMHO, this act surely could be considered as a Terrorist attack: it was carefully planned and it terrorized 149 persons at least for the last 8 minutes of their life (without counting how many of us just thinking about the horror to be killed that way).
After all you can plan a suicide with much less casualties - a gliding accident comes to mind (he was a glider pilot)... why kill so much people when you have easier alternatives available?

It's really a sad indicator of intelligence when you have to look up how to kill yourself online. It's not that hard. As for him being a terrorist, he doesn't fit the definition just yet. Causing people terror isn't what makes a terrorist, otherwise clowns would all be classified. The unlawful use of force or violence against persons or property in order to coerce or intimidate a government or the civilian population in furtherance of political or social objectives. Unless there was political motivation it's simply a jackass committing a mass murder-suicide. I still don't condone his actions; the 'terrorist' label doesn't change the fact that he was a huge waste of oxygen.

Let's keep it Community Hall. A few of these last point went too far.
Next one and it gets moved.

Does this strike anyone else as really odd? As in, the allegation conveniently fits the narrative? I'm not claiming there is a coverup, but wouldn't you think someone who works in an airline service's cockpit would already know the specifics of that company's cockpit door security measures? Between the speed that the cause of the crash was announced, and now this... it seems to be just a touch weird on the part of the authorities. I'm just wondering.
