I was in the mood for some Greek-style gyros, so I went and bought some lamb meat sliced fine. I had no intention of making "authentic" gyros the first time around so I decided to fake the funk last night. The result - not bad for government work.

I used a very basic seasoning mix I found on the internet - olive oil, salt, pepper, rosemary. I let the meat marinade in this mix for two hours and then fried it up in my cast iron skillet. I put the meat on some flat bread and added some Kraft cucumber and ranch dressing on it for a fake Greek dressing (until I learn better).

Anyway, what are your favorite was to prepare lamb meat?

Kebabs man....

i buy a leg of lamb...cube them...then marinade overnight with...
Lots of garlic
Lots of fresh squeezed lemon juice about 3 or 4
Also lemon peel before squeezing them
One whole bunch of mint chopped finely
Lots of cumin and salt and pepper to taste
Olive oil

24 hours later on a nice high heat grill...you can put them in skewers even better

Can also put small tomatoes and other veggies in same marinade and grill them up too... scrumptious

Lamb and chickpea stew. It's a Lebanese recipe, with tomatoes, onion, garlic, bay, stock. But the most important bit is to roast some cubed lamb in a covered dish for 20 mins or so, before adding to the stew for an hour. such an awesome flavour

A British friend once cooked (roasted?) her famous lamb shoulder for me once... with mint sauce, mashed parsnips, other root vegetables...

One of the best dishes I've ever eaten!

I don't know how to cook Lamb.

I like going to the little family owned Greek restaurant here and they have lamb in a gyro or entire leg of lamb shank slowly roasted and you get one per plate with potatoes and pita bread.

It's not a soup, as it looks in that photo.

Also, I got to ask, what is a greek dressing?

And this of course,

Man, we have all of these cooks on SimHQ. I can barely manage a microwavable pizza!

As for lamb I absolutely love lamb vindaloo.

The times I've had lamb I was completely underwhelmed. It wasn't bad or anything, but it struck me as being like eating pork. I've no interest in revisiting it.

Gonna try a gyro recipe tonight. I never knew gyro meat started as ground lamb which after various preparation and seasoning is basically a meat loaf that you cut your gyro slices from. Well, that is one way and I plan to try it tonight!

Lamb is good!

It's better than beef and pork.

Also try other meat like I had antelope and deer (venison) stew in Wyoming and bison steaks in Alaska and rabbit stew in France.
