Good to see some familiar posters still here!
Last time I was flying F18 was about 2007, back into it and loving it, I think I've worked out all the Nvidia/resolution setting that seem to work best for me, and I'm not getting any crashes or anything. Just been practicing and remembering all the avionics etc.. would love to try a some multiplayer coop training, I'm on Aus WST time, so not sure if anyone would be keen but I got some time off around Easter.

Here is what I found:
Higher resolutions (eg 1920x1080) make the graphics much nicer but it makes the HUD text tiny and unreadable unless I press my nose right up to the screen - so I chose 1600x900 which makes the HUD font size readable without binoculars and shows enough of the cockpit. Also doesn't stretch anything.
Higher levels of Antialiasing make the HUD and message fonts unreadable and blurred. So I chose FXAA overiding any game settings to give a "light" antialiasing - this gets rid of the ugly "jaggies" with no performance hit - looks nice enough and performs well and the HUD fonts and messages are still readable.
FRAMERATES: I don't seem to get any AA slowdown. Framerates are high (see above images) and stay high. Sometimes though when I start a mission it starts with a low framerate just sitting on the deck about to launch - usually in the 30s or high 20s. However if I ALT TAB to desktop and then return, or, alternatively if I restart the mission this gets rid of the lower framerates and they stay high during the whole mission. I think vsync has a lot to do with framerates...
I get no CTDs, F18 doesn't crash when I alt tab to desktop.
I get the sky banding - see above photos - can't get rid of it - does anyone know how?
Any advice on settings to try are welcome.
Regards,
