Since retiring I've found that I spend a lot (too much) time in front of the PC and as a result this aggravates an old back injury somewhat.

I don't currently have a PC chair.I was sat in my old one when I heard a crack and one of the legs, the one at the back unfortunately, snapped off and I went over backwards and was left temporarily stranded like an upturned turtle. Yes,you can laugh hahaha

Since then I've just been using a dining chair which isn't really suitable for the long haul so I'm going to purchase a new chair.

So,any recommendations for type etc? Are these 'kneeling stools' really any good for people with back problems? Cost will come into it,maybe keep it to under 150. Thanks guys.

*Oh and I am taking breaks,so the most I spend in one session is 1,maybe 2 hours tops.

I have a cloth/fabric office chair with arm rests and adjustable base that I absolutely love. I bought it from an office supply store for about 85 USD. I got fabric/cloth because leather is just way too hot for where I live.

OK......I was thinking about "how the heck can a chair be "politically correct"? biggrin

My current computer chair came for a used office furniture shop. New it would have been about $350. I paid $40. It's in great condition, fully adjustable, with a small flaw in one of the arm rests

How are you with sitting on a car seat for a long drive? I've found that to be the most comfy option and had one for 2+ years until I wore it down. Not bad for 50 spent.

Currently sitting on my ejection seat and it's quite comfy too.

My back is a problem when sitting at a desk for long periods of time so now I use a 70" monitor and sit in my vintage leather easy chair when using the computer. Wireless mice and keyboards help keep the clutter down and the whole setup is much more relaxing and easy to use for long periods of time while I am doing my graphics work.

Can't really recommend anything, but just wanted to add, that if weight is a consideration check out the limits before you decide on one. I'm not even that big of a guy and find myself near the limits of most chairs, add in a kid or two on your lap and well the chairs don't hold up.

Anyway what chair manufacturers consider "Big and Tall" may be vastly different than what most folks would consider "Big and Tall"

Nabbed mine from the county. The arms have a latch to swing down for sidearms, which works great for a HOTAS!

That's the problem,I'm near or over the weight limit for most chairs, something that I'm working on without much success.

I've looked at 'orthopaedic' style chairs but that usually means 2-3 times the price that may or may not be any better.I tend to try sitting up straight but after a few mins the slouch sets in.

I like the idea of re-locating to the sofa as I do have a laptop but I can never get my arms comfortable and my gaming laptop weighs a ton and gets too hot to sit on my lap for any period of time.

I've got a cheap leather office chair I bought for $100 a few months ago. It replaced a fabric one I had that was falling apart. I would've bought a new fabric one but they all cost MORE than the leather one I finally got! Cheapest decent one I saw was like $200+.

If it gets too hot/cold for leather, I have a fleece throw I put over it. smile

I had one of those kneeling position chairs years ago. Even as a kid that got old FAST.
About 4 years ago I bought this one:

Doesn't look like much, but the material is tough. Even cats scratching on the meshlike cloth hasn't messed it up. Pretty well padded. The nice thing is that like some specialized racing chairs, it's got 6 way adjustable controls. It's like a driver's seat in a car. The back leans forward and back, but also the seat bottom ajusts up and down. The arms can be raised or lowered several inches, or removed entirely. Like all pneumatic chairs I've had, the lift eventually went out. You can replace it, but instead I just slipped a chrome metal pipe I found in the plumbing section of a hardware store and slipped it over the tube part of the lift. It now rests on that and maintains the height I like.
It's a good one for the money. If you're into racing, you can get low down and lean back in actual racing position.
