My friend's Grandpa was in the Naval Air Reserve and took some movies of Seattle and flying around Washington. Gorgeous footage and looks like it was a perfect PNW day for flying. Enjoy!

Pretty cool!

Nice to see that most of the stuff still looks the same way, except Sand Point Naval Station sure looked different in those days, I've gone there swimming many times and took my motorcycle learner's permit there in a huge parking lot and never realized it was a airplane runway back in the 50s, pretty cool.

That also looked like Mt St Helens before the eruption or was that Mt Ranier?

Sweet, back in the day when they made cars with real steel. Love the video around Rainier.

Rainier and St. Helen can be seen in the film.
I-90 bridge, 520 bridge, Deception pass bridge, Tacoma Narrows bridges all shown.

Loved the turret action, too.

Thats what I reacted to as well. Also La Push where my final backpacking trip took place. Part of the Olympic National Park. And it still looks exactly like that. biggrin Deception Pass is about 10 miles from where I sit. Funny to see all that "back in the day".

I think one of those WAS mount st Helens before it blew. As a 4 or 5 year old my family drove as close as we could get after it blew. Collected ash and sold it at the Public Market in Seattle. I remember walking around in that ash with my Mom trying to fit a gas mask to me. Ya, did not work. Was way to small. Actually I think the footage was of both. One looks liek rainer the other the pre blown up Helens.

I really do love this state. Wish my family did not move away for all those years when I was 8 to San Diego. Did not get back till I was 22. Whidbey island Island for a kid and his dog was WAY cooler than SD or the Bay area by far. All my best memories of my childhood where from Seattle and Whidbey.

One of these years I'll make it out to Seattle. I'm dying to see the Battlestar Galactica museum!

Reading some of the comments, one poster mentioned that the F4-U in the Museum of Flight at Boeing Field was recovered in Lake Washington, where Sand Point NAS used to be in operation. Also someone mentioned that there is a Consolidated PB4Y-2 Privateer in the lake about 160' down, too.
Probably a history of beer cans down there, as well.
