Sorry for the late follow up, but RL got in the way.
Ok, where was I: our Tanks had arrived and they moved together with C-platoon and over the AT-plt position. First the enemy APC got engaged.
Then they moved on, C provided cover against enemy infantry and the Tanks too on the enemy T-72B's that battered A-platoon.
But fighting in restricted terrain is not the tankies strong point. They learned a lesson here...at the cost of the plt-leader :-(
The 2IC had to take over. Under "new leadership" the tanks moved on to whipe out the enemy tanks remaining in front of A
Meanwhile in the airfield center, command section had their own problems.
They where in BP-T1 near the houses, while the area EAST of the runway was held by enemy in platoon...possible company strenght.
Our maschine guns fired till the barrels turned white:
Also our mortars fired what they could. But when a battery of RAKH 89 came available, Zipuli showered all that was east of the runway with 122mm rockets.
Now the tanks pushed through from the north and reached the runway:
low left part of the pic are our tanks(near abatis) command section is close to the building center right while at the far end, the a remaining enemy tank is still lurking in a duggout But our tanks:
See him first!
By this time the enemy attack had been stopped.
Zipuli wanted to use the momentum to regain control of the road 369, south of the runway.
He ordered a counterattack there.
On the way Tjay in his T-72 had a close run in with enemy grunts, costing him his left track,
Then a confused enemy BTR-driver stumbled into Tjay, eating an APFSDS-round, probably the sabot segments as well
The counterattack then destroyed a few more BTR
But was then stopped by determined enemy resitance.
Including the company CO K.I.A.
With the boss down, and only one tank fully operational, the 2IC took over and consolidated.
The company held the airfield, but lost near 75% of its combat power, and had to be relieved in place by the reserve.
The enemy battalion was degraded decisively, and will not be able to operate in this battle again...
Stay tuned for mission 4. This weekend Saturday the 21st of Feb. 2100 GMT (212100Zfeb15)
