Unshielded Sidewinder? Quite a step down from the Millennium Falcon for Lando

No, a binary star isn't enough. We need a quaternary star system!

I'll never get sick of views like this

Guys, how good is this game? I'm a big sci-fi fan if it has anything to do with space, but I've never found a space game that really grabbed me. The very first Homeworld was cool at first but rapidly became repetitive for me. I longed to explore the galaxy like I can explore every country on earth with FSX and now P3D v2. I don't want something real complicated. I don't like games with unlockables all over the place--too console like. Console games bore me that way. I don't like real complex flight sims (I always set the flight dynamics to 'easy') but I want something more real than pure arcade, laws of physics be damned.

So, is this space game really good? Is it difficult? Where do you buy it? I didn't see it in Amazon-US. It might be there but I didn't see it.

It has the complexity of FSX but strikes a happy medium in the flight physics department. The flight is like X-wing games of the past (but much more skill and systems management based). It's like FSX+Xwing+Euro truck Simulator 2=elite dangerous.

It takes time to do things, and most of your time is ho-hum, followed by minutes of sheer joy/terror. It is very open aswell, It literally just plops you into space and you decide your story and what you do.

I can't recommend it enough to people who like sims. If your idea of a good time is FSX, and you like space, you will love E:D.

Now if you like mass effect type stories or Battlefield type action...You wont like E:D. It has a realistic pace to it's game play. Some times I sit down and my goal for that session is to explore a small cluster of systems...but that took me 1.5 hours. However I enjoyed every second of it, the same way I enjoy flying around in FSX or DCS, there is no doubt in Elite that you are a pilot in space, doing space things.

Edit: that system setup? DO IT.

It's available off their site only. link

@Plainsman, I highly recommend Elite. My best advice is to avoid any negativity and try the game out for yourself, also if you have a question avoid the offical forums. Like all official forums it's full of whining and #%&*$# and powergamer arsehole types. smile

Outpost in the Regina system, according to the traffic log I'm the only one in town.

Thanks.

I wasn't a kickstarter backer so I don't have access to the beta and it's pretty little debug camera. Doesn't stop ED continuing to produce wonderful views though! biggrin

Dont think of it as being vastly outnumbered ... but just having a large target selection.

The only thing more accurate than incoming fire, is incoming friendly fire

Nice shots, I quite like the first two in the dark station.

Last night I visited New Yembo and checked out Unity station under construction. Very cool especially all the little blue welding flashes that for some reason don't show up in screenshots.
