I bought a Wii mainly for my nephews.(I rarely use it) I've been checking out this new Legend of Zelda game and it looks really good. I haven't played a Zelda game since that gold cartridge The Legend of Zelda on NES. I used to really like playing that one in the mid-nineties while listening to music for some reason.

I had to look up today to actually see what a "Wii U" was. I figured it was some newer version of the Wii with HD support but hat no idea the actual game controller looks like an ipad or something with a huge screen.

Just wondering if anyone has one and likes it and what good games if any are for that platform. I'd almost buy one just for this new Zelda coming out as it really looks fantastic.

I'm also interested in getting Twilight Princess for the Wii as that looks very entertaining.

My wife and I have one. I enjoy it a lot more than the wii. Most wii games were way to gimmicky with the motion controls. The wiiU uses standard duel stick controls and the extra screen is useful in games as a touch pad or you can play on it without a tv. Also all the old wii games are supported with a virtual console as long as you have a set of old wii controller + nunchuck.

As for games... there really are not that many. The system kind of tanked and they never pushed to have more top quality games. Super Smash brothers is fun if you like a beatem up game or there is Bayonetta 2 and Hyrule Warriors.

I'd pass on Mario Kart. It was very gimmicky with all these vertical tracks for no reason. This means that you cant really see the track ahead of you being it either goes straight vertical or the whole track rotates out of sight.

In all honesty you may very well be buying to solely for the new zelda games because the library is not very big.

I have it...Not a whole lot of games I would play on it. Mostly Nintendo titles...

i do recommend that you play...

Ocarina of Time and Majoras Mask on Virtual Console
Windwaker HD
Twilight Princess and Skyword Sword Wii Games

to get the complete Zelda experience while you wait for the new one to come out

Thanks. But what is a "virtual Console" that you both are referring to?

When you boot up the wiiU you are in wiiU mode. The virtual console allows you to boot up in Wii mode which lets you play every wii game. It is basically a wii emulator on the wii u.

We have it. We like it. The LEGO games work very well, so my son really enjoys them. I've considered getting a second one. I use it for Wii U Fit and golfing because the older Wiimotes still work on it. And it plays all of our older Wii games. No need buying a new library.

I actually am not a fan of the new tablet controller. After watching my kids be able to pick up the older controllers and be able to figure out a game in literally less than a minute, you go to a gigantic, clunky tablet, Nintendo? So I use the Batarang-looking one.

The new MarioKart gives my wife vertigo. Really.

All in all, with Netflix and Amazon Instant Video, it's good home entertainment system.

The new mario kart is just excessively ridiculous with their tracks to the point that it makes actually racing impossible. Oh yea, btw right after you got 90 degrees straight up in 5 feet you have to make a sharp right turn which you cant see until 1s before you hit the turn. Hope there isnt a wreck there or your will probably die.

Personally I like the giant tablet controller over the nun chucks but ONLY because there is no motion control. I hate how 90% of the wii games use gimmicky motion controls that make no sense and just make it impossible to play while relaxing. Some games like boom blocks used it properly and I loved it but most... it was just painful to play them.
