Hello all, I'm a total ArmA newb looking for a little direction. First, I d/led Steam and bought ArmA3 but haven't d/led it yet. Are you able to play it on multiple machines or only the one it gets d/led to? Next, in order to participate in some of the SimHQ soldiering do I just add the v3 mod to vanilla ArmA3 and that's it? And finally, I'm going to invest in a TrackIr and a new monitor. I was wondering if there was anything to look out for when purchasing the TrackIr?

You can install your games on multiple machines, but I don't know the maximum limit of machines you can install on, or how many instances of the game you can have running simultaneously across multiple machines. There's probably an answer on the Steam FAQ

I'd recommend the trackir, I could not live with out it when it comes to Arma or Flight Sims. I've got no idea when they run their sales though.

One thing to mention with the TrackIR is the TrackClip Pro, which is notoriously flimsy, and uses a USB cable (Not great when you use a wireless headset!) You can buy the kit with and without this clip.

If you decide to get one with the TrackClip Pro, make sure you buy it from somewhere with a good customer service policy. Somewhere that also sells the TrackClip Pro separately is a good bet, because they'll be able to send out a replacement one easily. I went through two of these before deciding to stick with the Vector Clip (Also included, baseball cap mounted with IR reflectors) Which has been perfect for me.

Not to detract from the TrackIR at all - The product is incredible, but the TCP is poorly made. I've also seen some metal alternatives.

AFAIK for most games (and Arma 3 is almost certainly one of them) you can only play it on one PC at a time, but you can have Steam and it installed on as many as you want.

Thanks folks for all of the helpful replies. I bought a new monitor and have decided to build a new machine as well. This will make me very happy and my wife unhappy, but she'll get over it ;-). I did strike out on finding a TrackIr anywhere around me so I'm assuming they're online only? No joy at BestBuy or any of the comp shacks around me.

I've never seen TrackIR's for sale at any retail store. As far as I know, they are available online only.

Yep. If you can find one in retail, you live in a cool town!
