Over twenty years ago, Bill Bryson went on a trip around Britain to celebrate the green and kindly island that had become his home. The hilarious book he wrote about that journey, Notes from a Small Island, became one of the most loved books of recent decades, and was voted in a BBC poll as the book that best represents Britain. Now, for his first travel book in fifteen years, Bryson sets out again, on a long-awaited, brand-new journey around the UK. http://www.amazon.co.uk/The-Road-Little-Dribbling-Island/dp/0857522345

He started out with some travel books that - in my opinion - are the funniest ever written. My favorites are Notes from a small Island, A Walk in the woods and Down Under. Funny as these books are, they contain a lot of pretty dry facts (but brought in a very digestable way). After his travel books, he started writing other books as well - an autobiography about his youth, a history of the world, a history about private life at home and others.

I have become a fan, that's for sure. Now reading "In a Sunburned Country", and it contains the funniest passage I have ever read, evah! "Moist bubbles of intestinal gas", indeed! Those who have read this book will surely remember the whole paragraph. Good stuff, indeed!
