I never understood what the fascination is of Mindcraft, on any platform... I mean, it looks ugly and serves no purpose... now that being said I would never ditch another gamers fun...well, I guess i just did, but anyway... can not understand why or for what reason anyone would play that.

and then to broadcast it? It's one of the top games broadcast-ed, and I just watched a friend of mine, I won't mention his name because he's here, building a stupid wall for 30 minutes... that's it, nothing else, and he was narrating it!

Someone please enlighten me on this... what the hell are you guys doing? and why? Why not play a real game like a racer, or a shooter, or a CRPG... anything but ugly blocks building a damn wall...for what?

wink

and BTW, the only reason I don't try it for myself... I don't want to get addicted to it, like so many of you... thou I don't see how anyone could. wink

Minecraft is for my kids (7 and 11) like Legos or Erector Set were for me, they can spend hours building houses, castles, mining, crafting, fishing...

Add in the capabilities of Mods that can do all kinds of cool stuff, and LAN and Internet multiplayer co-op so they can play together or play in different game modes and it makes it into the killer game for kids these days.

Personally I found it fun originally in survival mode for about a couple of hours, and I grew bored of it long ago, but I still play it occasionally with them so we can game together and have fun together (they love to build houses and wings to their houses for dad to visit).

Anyhow from what I've seen it's got the fun of the creative games from when we were kids but with all the additional fun of co-op multiplayer and mods, they love it on PC and on XB360 and they even watch youtube videos of how to build specific stuff and new mods to try etc which is probably the same stuff people stream.

Personally I think it's great that there's something so creative and fun for kids.

My youngest loves this game, get a few of his friends on this and they'll play for hours. He'll also play other games, but even my 13 yr old will still play once in a while. It allows you freedom to do what ever you want. I hate watching them play, I'm like you, it's such a waste of time. But there's been articles posted about how it gives kids great creativity.

Look at this airport, my oldest used to go on you tube to just watch these vids and then build his own stuff.

Like kludger said it is basically legos for this generation (even though they also play with legos).

I've spent countless hours playing minecraft survival mode on the computer. It is constantly updated with new content which helps the re playability and there is really a sense of accomplishment when you take something in your mind and build it out in game. It also have one of the most advanced and complicated electrical functions in game. You can make those blocks do all kinds of amazing things.

It's kinda fun once in a while from a LEGO perspective. Why someone would want to watch someone else play it is beyond me though, watching paint dry would provide more excitement for me.

I hate minecraft.............with that said I do play it occasionally. It's fun to just sit back and chill and build something. At least for me.

Now my 12 year old plays it and watches youtube videos about it all damn day. Theses people are the most annoying and dumb people on the planet. He watches video then a few of his friends get on line and the go build or something on a server and within an hour they are arguing about whos cheating or hacking. Turns out they all cheat but its ok or something. Drives me nuts!

Wow, if this is too violent, I can't imagine what other games they don't allow... Turkey Bands Minecraft

LINK

Quote:
With millions of users worldwide, “Minecraft,” the immersive “open world” video game that gives users considerable freedom in choosing how they play, isn’t so popular with Turkey’s Family and Social Policies Ministry. After launching a probe looking into the game, the ministry has called for the game to be banned for encouraging children to resort to violence in the game, reports Turkey’s Hürriyet Daily News.
