Or is it the 4th?
Anyway I always find it very interesting where, when, and what people like to fly.
Without further ado my (active and semi-active) campaigns are:

56 Squadron with Se5's /5a's with one on April 1917 and the other in March 1918.
Jasta 11 in April 1917 with Alb DIII's (Zombie career) and in March 1918 with Dr.1's.
60 Squadron in March 1917 with N17's.
11 Squadron with Bristols in July 1917. Used to do 48 Squadron always but switched.
70 Squadron with Camels in August 1917 and again in March 1918.
94th Squadron (USA) with N28's end of March 1918. Just a couple of missions complete here.

I'm flying one "through the war" campaign with each main nation (replacing pilots when they die), started in January 1916. I am now around June/July :

French Esc 69 in Lemmes near Verdun flying Nieuport 16
German Jasta 1 in Bertincourt flying Fokker EIII
British with RFC 32 in Treizennes flying Airco DH2
British with RNAS 4 in Coudekerque flying Sopwith Strutter

I would have liked to fly two seater campaigns as well, but don't have enough time with my other activities (mostly my FSX adventures and Elite Dangerous in space... plus nature photography now that spring is around the corner)
When I think that some people are affraid to have a boring time in retirement... I also have at least 20 books to read and probably as many DVDs to watch that I put in stock in the last years ( thinking I would have plenty of time when retired...lol )

No situation is boring - there are only boring people.

I'm doing a through-the-war campaign, replacing pilots from a random nationality (1-2 British 3-4 Frog 5-7 German) that started in March 1916. It's now March of 1917, and I'm in Jasta 18 flying the Albatros D.II

I think my next project may be to start 2-3 pilots in the same squadron so I can really build up the squad's history, then follow them through the war. One dies, bring in his replacement a few days later. WOFF won't know the squad's full history of course, but I will.

Damn, I knew I was missing out on something. I've been tweaking/breaking/fixing and generally messing around with WOFF files that I forget to play the game...

Flying with Jasta 5 starting in March 1917, using a somehow "cheat" method: is a "Dead Is Sometimes Dead" in which I am only allowed to backup my pilot every 3 missions, if he dies I have to restore it but if I die again before completing the three missions then, GAME OVER. My pilot is in June and has been injured 3 times and saved his life with this cheat once.

Right now I don't have many pilots.
I often had 6 - 9 pilots, and usually after some time a feller is gaining some shape and likes,
while others are getting dropped.

Jasta 5, Boistrancourt, July 1917

Jasta 17, St.Quentin-le-Petit, March 1917 - "DiD Campaign"-Pilot

Jasta 28w, Ghistelles, August 1917 (occasional)

Yeah, like you I don't have any time left over to be ever bored.
There is always WOFF...

I have my DiD campaign with RNAS-3 flying the Pup currently at Vert Galand in March 1917
I also have a Jasta 5 Alb DIII early flying from Lou's Boistrancourt in Mar 1917.

I look forward to the possibility of the two squadrons confronting each other.
There is no time for any further pilots as these two take up all my flying time.
some of my other WOFF time is spent on custom skins and mods, or reading this forum.

My other free time is reading, music, movies, gardening, hunting and shooting. Oh, and time with the wife. biggrin

I can say this because she doesn't read this forum biggrin

I only play a single career at any given time. At the moment, 20 Sqdn in Bristol Fighters. Currently late December 1917 still a wingman.

This nearly came to an unfortunate demise last sortie. Chasing a Pfalz from altitude around the descending spiral in his landing circuit (trying to get my Observer another kill), I was bounced by another Jasta flying Pfalz scouts. I assumed they were all landing, until I saw several tracers go whizzing by my cranium. They broke off their chase after a 10 minute run for the front.

I've too many to list all of them. Some favorites;

RNAS 1 April 1917 in a Tripe
3 RFC spring 1915 in a Morane
RNAS 3 summer 1916 in a Strutter

ESC 81 summer 1918 in a SPAD XIII
ESC Laf summer 1916 in a Bebe

Bosta 17 summer 1917 in a Gotha GIV
FFA 23 winter 1915 in an Aviatik BI
MFJ I fall 1915 in a Fokker EI
Jasta 1 fall 1916 in a Halb. DIII
Jasta 80b fall 1918 in a Fokker DVII OAW

Two pilots made it to the end of the war, but they started in the summer of 1918

This pilot is close to wars end. There is a much different feel and mood to flying a german pilot at this stage of the war as compared to the two listed above.

Duke, I'm currently flying with Cedric Poupon, in a Strutter B1 single seater for the French VB108 in Flanders. Current date is 27 Jan 1917, and he's lasted almost 15 hours of flying over nearly a month of service - far better than anything I've managed in DiD, to date! No kills, but plenty of exciting scraps!

Hello fellow pilots,

I am flying in Jasta 10 and every flight is an adventure.
I selected Jasta 10 because Erich Lowenhardt spent most of his entire career

in that Jasta and the Albatros D.III early is easier to fly using realistic

settings. I started my career on May 29th 1917 and have flown 10 missions.
In Jasta 10, a rookie pilot has many comrades in arms since Kette Zwei

usually flies with 4-6 pilots and Kette Eins most often flies top cover with

the same number of pilots. You have the feeling of flying with many

experienced pilots.

I also would like to sincerely apologize for my first forum post back in

October. I was a bit misleading about my video card and Woff workshop

settings and that was not my intent.

To make a long story short, I knew when I purchased Woff at version 1.26 and

later the 2.0 upgrade, my 1GB video card and my older (2011) mother board

were not up to the recommended requirements. My mother board's effective band

width could also throttle a more modern video card's band width.

Yet I was and still am very excited about the beauty and historical accuracy

of WOFF and after 5 months of tuning and also with a newer video card, (GTX

750TI) I can finally dogfight and fully enjoy the beauty of Woff. I never

gave up trying to tune the game and the video card. I had to tune for a

balance between performance and quality. If the Frames per second were too

high, then severe stuttering happened and I could not effectively dogfight.

Many thanks again to the DEVS and all the many helpful forum members.

Thank you Robert.

Getting Woff to run is certainly worth the extra time and effort.

After all the tuning, I made the time to carefully document all workshop and video card settings.

At least I will have some baseline to return to if I change any future settings.

Best wishes,

Tango717

Yes, very smart move. I keep screen captures of the settings in a folder on my hard drive and it is of course backed up with my backups.

Yes, it takes patience, practice and skill to fly the Alb to it's advantage for sure! Turn fighters can stay in the action longer and so seem to get more opportunities. With the Alb it is more like a cut and run in combat so you are not on the tail of the enemy for as long, most of the time.

IMHO it takes a certain touch to fly successfully in a Alb - and perhaps not a historical one nor one for the brave of heart.
I am not going to question the FM as it certainly appears fine as I understand it, short of being there, of how they flew and/or are supposed too. Certainly it is not the world beater as some histories make it out to be but that is a common quirk in history - upscaling the enemies performance and weapons to explain your difficulty in handling them. If I hear another history describe them as "speedy and agile" I may need medication. Speedy and agile compared to what? The hapless Be's?
Yet the Germans made it work in real life taking an awful toll of the Entente aircraft but they seem to have a hard time doing that again in WOFF-world.
No matter how faithful WOFF may do aircraft performance, or how good the AI is, it can never, obviously enough, duplicate the training, thoughts, and experiences of the real life German and Entente aviators. And I think that explains the difference between WOFF results and the real air war results.
Without a true "people factor" a simulation cannot duplicate history - just give us a reasonable facsimile of it.
Still gotta love WOFF though. It's the most fun you can have with your clothes on. Legal fun anyway!
