From UberDemon yesterday:
Just received comms from Monty, so I thought you would enjoy:

"[...] the project is alive and well, very nearly complete and we are talking weeks rather than months."

He did add a Grin emoticon, but I decided not to quote that... it would not capture the majesty of the original.

Me:
Sorry guys, the early hype got to me, check SAS for any new info.

One thing for certain, when it arrives, it will be very good

439th_WTornado,
Anytime you want to, I guess. The anticipated release of CFM has been shifted from "soon" to "weeks rather than months".

SAS~Monty27 has apparently decided to revise the package that was hours from release awhile back.
The reasons given, more content, more compact, easier to install.

There have been no updates since the one posted above from the 8th of Feb.

Update from UberDemon:

BLUF (Bottom Line Up Front):
* First of all, the name of the new multi-pack is CUP, or Community Universal Patch. It is the ultimate multi-mod pack for IL-2 1946 version 4.12m over the SAS 5.3 ModAct enabler.

This looks fantastic. One question re: installation. I'll be buying a new computer soon and haven't reinstalled IL2 in ages. Last time it took hours to download update after update after update.

When CUP comes out, will there be any simpler way to get from basic installation from the IL2 retail disks up to CUP? An all-in-one update/installation package would be great. Or even a way to go from basic installation to the 4.12x level necessary to install CUP.

Thanks for any advice,

Brian L.

Based on the thread title, these shots are just concentrating on Jet and WW1 stuff, so I wouldn't worry.

From the explanation of CUP:

" CUP was created with the idea of segmentation into major modules:
#1) Map Extension Module - this expands the Stock configuration of maps from the current selection in 4.12 to a much more extensive selection including several modded maps. This is available to all subsequent modules.
#2) Dawn of Flight (DOF) 1906-1926 - This is the early flight module, with an emphasis on WW1, accessible through the SAS IL-2 Selector. It includes WW1 ground objects and a healthy selection of WW1 aircraft, including fighters/scouts, reconnaissance, bombers and dirigibles/Zeppelins.
#3) World at War (WAW) 1936-1946 - The IL-2 we all know and love... the WW2-ish era. Think of anything from Spanish Civil War to Alternate 1946 scenarios.
#4) Jet War (JTW) 1946 to now - The modern era... Korea, Vietnam, Cold War, and everything else new that modders can throw at us.

Each module is accessed from the IL-2 Selector, so they are separate, but they all benefit from a common core of mods, maps, and of course the IL-2 engine.
"

No worries dude:

Quote:
CUP has 4 major modules:
1 - Maps - can be used by itself in MODACT
2 - DOF (Dawn of Flight/WW1) - requires module 1, and is independent of modules 3 & 4
3 - WAW (World at War/WW2) - requires module 1, and is independent of modules 1 & 4
4 - JTW (The Jet Age/Modern) - requires module 1, and is independent of modules 2 & 3

So you need module 1, but with prices like this, you would be a fool not to install modules 2-4 ( biggrin ). The JSGME mods are labeled so you can choose what options to install for each module (2-4), but you can't really pick and choose within the modules, you have to download all modules completely.

Remember that this pack is mostly SFS files to make it as easy to install as possible, so you have to download each module completely.

So you D/L what you want.

From what I have seen so far and the content in CFM and CUP my
Ultrapack 3 RC4 missions should work with the maps, planesets
and objects.
