Hello all, is there any news as to whether the British are to get a tank set? My Sherman Firefly itch needs to be scratched... plus we have a wealth of vehicles that are uniquely 'British' and would look great in a desert type map, North Africa/Tunisia setting?
Also, when I 'grind' out my modifications for each vehicle, I see an 'uninstall' tab comes up when I hover over each mod. What happens if you uninstall them? Can you carry things over to other vehicles? Or do you get re-imbursed with their value in game currency?
And why is it that even in simulator battles I'm waiting over 5 mins a lot of the time to even get a game? Bloody annoying! Plus, talking about annoying... so many people cruise about in Stugs, and use them like a 10 year old playing the game? Charging in, smashing into my tank like they are playing dodgems, and even when I'm hitting them point blank from a 75mm gun with AP, it does no damage, even when hitting them in the side? It kind of detracts from 'simulator' battles, both in realistic ballistics and rewarding gameplay... maybe I'm asking too much. (whinge over) lol!
Anyway, said it before, I just love the detail in these vehicles...
Cannot wait for British tanks. Valentines, Cromwells, and Matildas!
Today has been horrible as far as teamwork goes. Damn kids always rushing in with their PzIVs and Stugs and getting annihilated. Every match so far has ended up with me isolated with 5 T34s/Shermans around me.
On the otherhand that damn KV-1B 756r can take a beating! Been driving it alot in the event and shrugging off abuse. One match today I bet it took approx. 30-40rds of 75mm and 76mm. Finally had to back off and repair/reload. See if I can get some screens.
I still don't fully understand the research/GUI thing.
Here's what I do,and have been doing from the very first game.
Play game, earn points.Dismiss game results, keep clicking on 'ok' in the research windows until they go away.Eventually I get a 'all research completed' and I move on to the next vehicle/aircraft.
Here's where I get really confused. When I buy a new vehicle it asks to train a new crew.So far in Ground Forces I have done this without the need to use 'eagles'. If I have this right the new vehicle takes a slot from a current vehicle unless I buy a new slot with 'eagles',is that right?
Also I have never 'customised' or 'modified' a vehicle,am I missing out by not doing this? Pretty noobish questions I know seeing as I have reached level 9 but I always found this side of the game detracts from the flying/tanking and so I just gave it a cursory glance.
*Back to the screenshot thing,I have a thought. The Steam screenshot key is F12 by default. Is the WT screenshot key also F12? If so it may be overidden by Steam?* Just a thought,I'll look into it.
**EDIT* Sorted it. When you press F12 in Steam don't use the Steam screenshot location for the pics. Go to C:\Steam\steamapps\common\War Thunder\Screenshots to find the shots without the GUI.
I pretty much do the same as you Chucky, and yes, it's all a bit of a black art to me as well... I also don't know much about training up existing crews either, and what effect if any that this has on vehicle performance... I just save all my currency to advance to the next vehicle and start all over again...
Same here; just getting old methinks. I just go in balls-out and die frequently. Do have fun though. Doing the sneaky thing of going the long way round the flank I often found that by the time I've made contact with the enemy, we have either won or I am the last poor bugger left. I've been doing the modifications, but don't know if they make much of a difference apart from the ammo upgrade and the stonk request. Fire extinguishers just seem to prolong the death agony. Crew training I thought didn't have much effect in simulation mode but it seems from an earlier thread I may be wrong. It's all wasted in my case anyone because you 'can't polish a turd'
