I guess that makes this thread a sticky!
(I'll be here all week... be sure to try the salad bar!)
We've had the break here as well, as you'd expect. We set a record on Thursday for the coldest temperature ever recorded in March, -5°F (ok, give me a break it's Pittsburgh...) but then it warmed up and we haven't seen any freezing since Friday night. The sun is warm and you fell like running outside, beating your chest and hollering like Tarzan!
I just removed a bunch of horrid pines from a steep hillside I own. I'd love to do just as you, MudWasp - Plant sugar maples and wait. But I'm nigh 60 years old, and I figure it'd be the next guy that benefits from my enterprise!
There is a maple syrup festival in our county every year - a park has a big grove of maples on a nice hillside that makes tapping go all downhill. It's good to get real maple syrup once in a while. So Happy (and abundant) tapping to ya!!
