Hey guys, I was wondering what is the video software that you guys would recommend. I really enjoy watching the videos that my fellow pilots make and I've decided to get in on the act as well.

I think I the bulk of them use FRAPS.
And that is the limit of my video knowledge! I think Robert_Wiggins posted a "how-to" thread at one time. Or was it Hellshade?

Thanks Duke, I'll see if I can search and find that. I have an off-topic question, how to I advance from Junior Member to Member?

Going from Jr member to member has to do with # of posts. I cant recall the exact # at which it occurs.

Thanks guys, Shadowplay came with my card, but I didn't know it was a video package. I'll read up on how to use it.

I use Shadowplay as well, which is great for NVidia cards, being free. They upload to YouTube faster if you encode them in a friendly format first. I'll run it through VideoLan to get it to 1080 mp4, then edit in Windows Movie Maker. The final output file is only a couple of hundred MBs and uploads and processes in about 10-15 minutes.

The older I get, the more I realize I don't need to be Han, Luke or Leia. I'm just happy to be rebel scum...

FRAPS for me, but I will switch to Shadowplay when I update to a newer video card that can support it.

Tried a bunch of them at one time (both free and trials), but eventually settled on buying Action!.

https://mirillis.com/en/products/action.html - light on system resources, saves HD videos in small file size and easy to use.

Powerdirector when you want to make movies of your videos.

FRAPS so far, but just checked out/bought Action! Looks good.

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But in practice, there is.

Is an Internet-Connection needed to install & run FRAPS?
Shadowplay does need one (I guess, it's just another Data-Mining-Tool)

FRAPS can have an FPS hit on your game play so test it out on your machine and note how much the FPS drops when you are recording. I also suggest let FRAPS set the default for FPS capture for your tests and do not bump it up for the test run.

I'm currently experimenting with Afterburner from MSI. It has a disturbingly lot of Levers, Buttons and Menus...

I've been using Mirillis Action and like it. But when it comes to Exporting the video clips, I can't discover where they are stored. (?)

Really close. I found it by just clicking 'Libraries'>Videos and there they were. (which is pretty much the same thing) I only exported one last night. I did not expect to find everything I've captured. An unexpected boon. I am liking 'Action'.

ps: Hmmmm. If they're already there, what does 'export' mean?

MSI Afterburner is not video capture software as far as I can see. But it does allow you to overclock your card which is what I have done.
