...something that baffles me every other week:

Google owns Youtube.

Google owns Chrome.

No other browser lags as badly or caches as badly when streaming 720 or 1080 youtube content.

I mean... seriously?

use clip converter

http://www.clipconverter.cc/

enter the youtube url into it and then choose the resolution you want to download to your hard drive.

you can also use a clip converter browser add on.

And lately Google maps is a crashy, annoying UI.

And lately Google search shows a completely empty white page when stepping back from a visited result.

And lately that little multi-square UI thing for choosing other Google services will randomly do nothing when clicked.

I have had to wonder what computers they are using in the office.

I use Google Mail and I also have a YouTube account from when YouTube was not owned by Google.

Google is always asking me to log into YouTube just to watch a video and I never do.

I have never log into Google Chrome to integrate and combine my Gmail and YouTube and Chrome together but I do use the Chrome browser.

I do have one annoyance when I use Google Mail: on the top right corner there is a bell icon showing notifications.

Every now and then it will show one notification and then I put the mouse over it, it tells me (for example the last time it happened 2 weeks ago) a Mazda dealership long long away from where I live has put me in their circle.

How did they get my name?

I have long ago and also just recently to be sure gone into my settings and change everything to only me and furthermore, I have never used my Google Mail account and profile to post a review on anything.

Blows my mind that on our Sony Google TV, basically an android computer, the youtube app crashes or has a habit of logging me out. If I'm going through subscriptions checking out videos, after a few I get logged out and an error, forcing me to log back in to continue. Really annoying. The crashes aren't as frequent as they used to be, but it doesn't seem like this has ever run reliably.

You mean like Microsoft applications having compatibility issues with some versions of Windows?

The idea that one company owning two divisions means that those divisions will work well together has been 100% proven false. All it means is the parent company gets the profits from both.

If this was based on a 5-10 year old, unsupported version of Linux, I'd understand. However, these are both currently supported and up to date OS and app.
It's more like if I have Windows 7 media player but it won't play a perfectly fine .wmv file but 75% of the time. Or when I watch a video, Win 7 logged me out of my user account at random times.

Let's put it a different way: A competitor product (actually both I have: Firefox and IE) runs their video service much, much better (to the difference between: unusable and perfectly enjoyable).

I understand that different divisions in large companies don't talk a lot with each other, but this is quite an insane example.

Like Kryp says, they even sell a (hardware-embedded) feature that crashes on their own web service. I mean, come on...

The PC I use for browsing ect is only a C2D E6600 with a Radeon HD 4550 and if I watch Youtube vids on it with Chrome it BSOD after a while as both cores of the CPU peg at 100%
So I use Firefox for Youtube and it work fine with the CPU staying low.

I still prefer to use Chrome for browsing though as its faster for me than Firefox.
