Yes you have battleships with guns with a range of what 35Km+ (depending on the gun, thats for 14") and here we have them shooting at 10km or less.

No need for range finders or half the crew running directors, etc. just blast away at point blank range.

Coal and oil fired ships react the same way (as if they had jet turbines) and no smoke to make gunnery more challenging.

I'm tempted to suggest its just a fancy version of this:

It would be nice if the company allowed another developer to team up and use the GFX assets, engine and such to implement a more detailed "Sim Version". Same for World of Tanks.

Some of you guys are missing the point. This is 'World of Warships'. The game-play features are on the 'fun' side of things for a reason and yes, this is what the vast majority of players want. Hence the player numbers. Hence why companies like Wargaming and Gaijin have vast amounts of money to throw at these games.

If only our own niche genres were as well supported. I have given up on ever getting a modern TF1942 so I'll make the best of things with WoW.

I also would welcome this but I guess the costs of buying a licence to use the engine would never be financially viable for making a niche game. A real shame.

I was thinking the same thing while playing war thunder last night.
In the right hands you could make a really decent WW2 tank sim out of there engine the models look fantastic
Maps would be way to small then there's the damage model ballistics turret interiors etc.

There was the T-72 Balkans on Fire sim, it made do without detailed interiors.

You'd need a refined hit-box/damage system, and better ballistics/penetration. All that is done "under the hood" and requires very minor graphical changes.

True about map sizes.

I guess if these titles had a stronger offline/modding component the job at hand might actually be already done by a mod team.

Well, I don't think I am missing any point. I know what it is. The reasons I gave are why I don't like it and what separates me from the hordes who do. smile

The way they portray the main gun rounds as they arc to their target looks far too arcadish to me.

Well if they don't feel they have to give people carriers that might be good.

At least then you wouldn't have carriers launching aircraft, basically "next door" to enemy surface units.

It is probably neater for the Germans too, since I guess WoW is going to invent some representation of Graf Zeppelin (and other Plan Z fantasy vessels) so that everybody can have a carrier?

Reminds me of Navyfield ~10yrs ago. I played that one when it was still in Beta. I made it up to a Myoko, but didn't like some of the mechanics, like the crew management that gave bonusses to different aspects like ships speed, reloading, etc. That ended with similarly arcadish performances of the ships as shown in this video.
Also different traits for the different nations, like better german gun range, superior british armor and gun damage, best japanese torpedos, ...

But WoW looks certainly much better than Navyfield or its latest incarnation Navyfield 2.

Not a fan of Wargaming's gameplay speed and healthbar system, some of those ships have the speed, acceleration and stopping power of a speedboat. I hope Gaijin's take on it keeps their signature pacing.

Aircraft carriers ramming other ships.
Battleships running alongside each other and giving each other broadsides like Spanish galleons.
Large ships moving like speedboats,

Yes, I'll definitely be giving this one a large miss...

Dunno, I think it's wise of Gaijin not to run after these guys.

Keep your mind on what you're doing great. We're still all waiting for the World War implementation.

Bring in that and THEN we'll see proper fireworks! biggrin
