Hello All,

Just got this off my facebook feeds, came out at 16:49 EST. Finally, some positive feedback from ED's Producer Matt Wagner regarding the development of the DCS-F-18C. This is great news indeed, I cant wait. cheers

How is progress coming on the F/A-18C and do we have an estimated year/quarter for when we might see it? Work on the F/A-18C continues and will accelerate in 2015. There are new technical challenges that this aircraft has posed. The first is the air-to-surface radar, which is now showing good results. The second major area is a PFM for supersonic aircraft. In many ways, the F-15C and Su-27 have been used as test-beds to build the technology for the Hornet flight model. Without a doubt, this has been the most complex and challenging aircraft that Eagle Dynamics has developed. As such, this project is taking longer than any of our prior products. -Matt Wagner, Eagle Dynamics Producer

Yeah I'll buy it full price when it comes out. In all honesty it gave a lot of info so there is no need to really.

EDGE/DCS World 2 will come before F/A-18C, given the relative state of both right now.

" DCS World 2 is in pre-alpha, internal testing but we hope to make it available for open Alpha testing in the first half of this year. "

So I'm not even hopeful that IT will be out this year, I've no expectation for the Hornet this year whatsoever.

Agreed, though I do think we'll see DCS2 and NTTR this year. I'm not so optimistic about Hormuz and have zero expectation of the Hornet this year, especially considering all we've seen of it has been a tiny cockpit render.

It's interesting that DCS2, NTTR, and Hormuz were all announced as a "Winter 2014" release in September 2014, yet Wagner just said that they haven't even begun putting Hormuz into DCS yet.

They were developing the E (Super Hornet) variant. ED is making the earlier C variant.

Poor use of word tense on my part, they're still developing it as far as I know. They have an FB page with recent images: https://www.facebook.com/CoreTexDesigns

To be fair it looks like they may be ahead of ED at this point..

Well, who knows at this point... ED isn't really showing anything about the Hornet.

So they again went from Q4 of 2014, with possible month or so delay to "Hope to have it in the first half of 2015". That is quite a jump.

ED really needs to start a developer blog for their Bug so we can at least get a flow of information.

I figure it'll be ready when it's ready. In the meantime, not worrying about it yet gives me time to start getting into the good graces of The Powers That Be, in the hopes of getting invited to be part of the beta then it gets to that point...

I'm glad people still find flight sims compelling enough that developers are still interested in churning out good products to satisfy the demand. I'm also glad that there are decent-quality sims like DCS out there, even though I don't have a history of spending much money on it (only have A-10C and FC3). I still hold out hope that they will make the sim a little more approachable for those of us who just simply want to climb in a cockpit and blow stuff up, but I'm not holding my breath because that's not the market DCS is in search of.

As it is, I don't really have the time to invest in learning systems. But it is nice to look at.

If you don't like learning systems, the A-10C was the wrong module to buy. Get the F-86F. With full DCS realism/button pushing, it isn't much more complex than flying jets in SF2.
