Just a heads up that Steam has updated TF 1942.
-1.2Patch applied
-Dos Box speed increased for smoother playback
-Some files cleaned up
- FULL GAME MANUAL and RECOGNITION book now included.
Don't know if you remember the actual manual and ID book but that's what you get, good stuff from the days when game manuals were half the fun of buying these games.

Thanks for the heads up.I held off buying it on Steam as I have the 'abandonware' version but this might just swing it. Have you tried it post patch?

Okay just a few quick observations. When you select "Play" though your Steam library (not your desktop shortcut) your presented with 3 options.
1). Play Task Force 1942
2). Play Task Force 1942 in DOSBOX Daum
3). Task Force 1942 Configuration. If you remember these early DOS games and their GUI configuration screen it's the same.
Task Force 1942 plays in windowed mode
Task Force 1942 in DOSBOX Daun plays in full screen mode.
Just for the little bit I got to play it does appear that the game play is much more fluent then when originally released. Sound still is an issue (like nonexistent in game) but with the game configuration screen now available this could be fixed by the user but I haven't had time too mess with it. Someone on the Steam forums stated all you need to do is hit Alt-S as the sound is off in game by default, again haven't had time yet too check that either.

Ok thanks.I did see another fix for the sound on the Steam forum that fixed it for some. I think I will hold off this for a while.

Let's hope this little gem of a game will get enough attention so a remake can be made. TF1941 to 2015 edition!
