Hopefully as 'active' as 2.5 especially as it was supposedly one of ED's highest priorities along with the Normandy map...yet no word about any progress on the newsletters.

There wasn't any specific time frame mentioned for Normandy's release, was there?

We're going to *tell* you about the FA/18 only *after* we release Normandy, but we're not going to tell you when we're going to release Normandy.

I'd rather have that they're quiet about the aircraft and only have press releases when there is actual information, than that they give us something which blows the hype out of proportion.

They have no clue when the F/A-18 will be "finished", and I'm glad they understand that smile

No news is good news

I don't know why, but when I read this part "the Hornet is under VERY active development"...the phrase "Double Secret Probation"
came to mind.

If you're older you'll get what I mean....

They have no clue of the definition of "finished", I understand that perfectly.

All I can say is they had better grab the ball by the balls and get on with it! biggrin

I'm usually patient when it comes to sims but waiting for the Hornet is starting to hurt. It's even more frustrating every time a new jet populates DCS but it's not the Hornet. sigh...

they just announced that they are working on it - and that it will be released after the Normandy map.

that is it.

it will be ready when it is ready.

I can wait.

The last post before the more recent ones was on March 2015. That was almost 2 years ago. Is anything still supposed to be a "progress update"? Or should it be more aptly called "this project isn't dead yet"? If this is their "under VERY active development," that just casts doubt on those that are not under over-emphasized active development. This also begs the question on how many "tiers" of development ED has. If we have 1.5.x, 2.0.x, and 2.5 builds as far as DCS World, is there a

VERY VERY active development
VERY active development
Active development
Not active development
Not very active development
Not very very active development???

it is what it is

I am not making any purchase options based on release schedules

I rather see the Spitfire template released soon and see the Mirage 2000 model fixed

and I finished setting up the MiG-29A/S template - I hope to have the free time to start working on it this week

I am sure things will turn out right in the end.

I'm not sure where you're getting your optimism from Tom, but can I have some wink

I was thinking that things will turn out OK in the end too....back in 2010, it's just that 7 years later I'm still not sure where the end actually is.....or the middle, or if ED have even started yet.

biggrin

it is slow going - we all know that, it is going to take a while before we see any results, and then we will have to go thru a beta before we see a final release.

my guesstimate for the F-18 is late 2017 early 2018 for an early beta.

and there is the Hormuz map and an Aircraft Carrier to do.

It's going to be okay. We probably won't be around to complain about how it was different from what was promised anyway... that is if anyone even remembers what was promised! biggrin

when they release the Hornet - we have to keep in mind that it will be an early release otherwise it will be very frustrating at first.

Exactly... so "the end" will still be a long way off EVEN with the release of the (beta) Hornet. Heck, I doubt if ED themselves even have a vague idea of their "the end" scenario.

Well, that's "the end" of the devs, but I doubt DCS will be finished by that time!!
