How about the other extreme?....a not so filling dinner.

Had to work late for setting up equipment for an out-of-office presentation.

All I could catch from the buffet was some pita chips and pimento cheese, and a couple of very nice aged gouda slices with crackers and queen size stuffed olives. They ran out of wine, so I had what was left of the last bottle of wine spritzer to drink.

It wasn't that bad, but MAN!, was I hungry this morning.

My home made shepherds pie is one that the kids keep asking for, but getting lamb here is a bit difficult so it usually ends up as more of a cottage pie.

Sheep was very popular here until WW2 and it was about the only meat you could get during the war, after the war people were sick of it, so it died out with the consequence that lamb and mutton is very expensive now and very few people want it.

Same here mate. Ive seen skanky, fatty, bony, lamb chops sell for up to 14 euros a kilo eek

Anyway, for tea last night I decided that, as I normally eat quite healthy stuff, Id go to the local kebab cafe 50 metres from the house. And the food is actually quite good (for a seaside cafe) Ordered a plate of mixed kebab, chips, salad. It looks like sh1t, but it tastes brilliant with garlic and chilli sauce biggrin
Oh, and beer smile
Notice how I made an effort to match the tablecloth with my shirt biggrin

Waiting patiently....

It arrived....

So did my daughter... biggrin

Yer lookin good Stewie, it's been almost 13 years since I seen you last biggrin

I'll pass on the kebab thanks but it looks fine, here the popular thing is a kapsalon: kebab meat sauce of your choice, chips, topped with cheese and then stuck in the pizza oven for a few minutes, then topped off with a salad, really tasty and after the first one I make them at home now too smile

weather here is a balmy 31c - feckin hot!

Tomorrow evening it is BBQ at a friends place and I'm really looking forward to going there.

Yup, I look in the mirror and see this baldheaded old man with a greying goatee looking back at me. WTF? That's not me! eek I'm trapped in this old fart's body, right arm recovering from tennis elbow, left shoulder sore with a little arthritis (I assume). Little aches and pains when I get up in the morning, until I move around a little. Geeez.

I just keep reminding myself, it could be worse. wink wink

Tell ya what, fellas. I enjoyed the kebab last night so much...I went and got a take-away of the same thing tonight biggrin
Kebab meat crammed into a 6 inch toasted, crunchy but soft bun, Sauce on the side, bigger portion of chips, and a can of beer eek
Last night cost me 9.60. Tonights take-away..7.80.
Bargain!
