My Western Digital Black hard drive got the infamous "clicking of death" last night so tomorrow I'll be up bright and early and buying myself a new gaming rig. My current PC is pretty outdated and I want to minimize the amount of my downtime so hence the new PC purchase. And yes, the rig I'm buying will also have a GTX 750.

I got a new lap top as a present from my wife and kids.
Good spec but no Graphic card, haven't got the hart to tell them it probably wont run my Favourite sims. I had ordered a rig from Alienware rig that would have run SB/DCS at a very high Detail settings. Now cancelled,
I will have to wait a reasonable amount of time then reorder.

Not much really but I don't care cause my mom finally got a new kidney on monday.
That's enough of a present to last awhile.

Wife got me a 91/30 Mosin Nagant in very good condition, obviously owned by someone who also owned a cleaning kit and wasn't afraid to use it.
She also got me 100 pieces of 45-70 brass so now I can abuse my shoulder to my heart's content shooting my Trapdoor Springfield.
Kids got me candy and other stuff that probably isn't good for me plus the usual socks and underware.

Don't mean to be a Scrooge but we usually wait it out another 15 days for our Anniversary (approaching 26 27 [I can't add]). And even then it won't be much, in the middle of a major house remodel.

Well, most of the time they go out and dump it in the neighbors' yards ("...and they say you couldn't train cats"), so it's not like a lot of work is being lifted from my shoulders. But I appreciate the gesture. smile

A 4-pack of Innis&Gunn Oak Aged Beer from Scottland. Bought it on the way home from Christmas Eve supper with the family. One of the best beers I've had in a long time.

Other than that I got a Wallet from mom and dad with $150 in it.

I got FIFA 15 for myself and have been enjoying it immensely over the Holidays.

Got the latest edition of Trivial Pursuit. Games with the family is always fun.

Also got waterproof packing bags for hiking and kayaking.

The usual hiking socks and books, my favourite of which is the fifth volume about Norwegian Spitfire pilots in WWII, including interviews and personal experiences with them. This volume has a lot of information on The Great Escape: Two of the three who got out alive were Norwegians. An amazing and unbelievable story!

GF got me a coffee hand-brewing kit, comprising of a hand grinder, a dripper and filters, and a serving kettle. They look like this. Also got a bag of Mexican Terruo coffee. Tried a few times to get the hang of things, and I'm able to produce some pretty good coffee now. Certainly beats any sort of coffee machine!

In all my years I've never seen the like. It has to be more than a hundred sea miles and he brings us up on his tail. That's seamanship, Mr. Pullings. My God, that's seamanship!

I got a new razor, used it this morning and was a great shave, but now need to wait an a few days to use it again biggrin

Also got some books on Lancaster , Spitfire and Spitfire restoration manual.

Socks and more socks, but a few nice shirts and a warm coat. Old one had faded in sunlight so was about time I replaced it.

I'm also getting the recent Airbus collection by aerosoft and skymax when I get around to buying them. Unfortunately not compatible with each other but both should be good. Just need to get myself something nice to fly in the xplane clouds.

Other than a Ruf Yellowbird for Assetto Corsa wink , I got a really fancy serrated Shun Japanese knife for sawing thru the crusty bread and tender meats. readytoeat

Smile from the wife:

And a hug from my son (photo not available).

Plus a neat flashlight and a pocket knife.

The wife usually doesn't like her picture taken, but I caught her in a good mood and she even hammed it up a little for me. I use them whenever she gets on her "I've gotten old, fat, and ugly" mopes. Good to be married to the hot wife who doesn't realize she's a hot wife.

I have been a very good boy this year, so I bought myself another new Winchester. It just arrived at my local FFL on Christmas eve. It's a model 1873 sporting rifle made by Miroku in Japan. They have the current license from Olin through Browning/FN to manufacture Winchesters.

They just re-introduced the model 1873 last year in limited quantities after it been discontinued by Winchester in 1917. Although the Italians have been making very nice 1873 clones for the last 25 years or so, Miroku is the only company that can legally stamp the Winchester logo on the barrel.

I got one of their short rifles earlier this year, but when I found out they were making the octagon barreled sporting rifle in a limited run of 250 each of two calibers, I knew I had to get one. This example is chambered in 44 WCF(44-40)which is the caliber that Winchester initially introduced the rifle in. This one is serial number 113 of only 250 of this configuration to be made for the world market.

Here's a shot with it on top and along with the short rifle (357 mag) version I got earlier this year. I also added a few original antique Winchester accessories to match. The catalog is from 1910 and the screwdrivers from 1920, so I cheated a bit.

While the wood on the short rifle was nice, the high grade figured black walnut on the long rifle is absolutely gorgeous. My mediocre skill with a camera just doesn't do it justice

One can never have too many Winchesters.

Cheers
