Deliveries of the Challenger Hellcat have only just begun, but already one has met an untimely demise.
It shouldnt be that surprising that some of these proud new Hellcat owners were a little overconfident behind the wheel. We all like to think of ourselves as decent drivers, but the 707 horsepower that Dodge gave this car is nothing to mess with. One unlucky guy found that out within just an hour of driving away in his shiny new Hellcat. 1 Hour? That long? Although I probably qualify as one of those knuckle draggers that would feel very awkward in a refined European muscle car, I absolutely love my Challenger, albeit the 5.7l version. I was elated to see the Hellcat announced but will ashamedly trade in my Challenger for the Hellcat Charger. Try as hard as I might to stay away from 4 doors with the last kid out the door and military retirement looming ever close, I just gotta keep 4 doors so my 4 legged friend has a permanent seat up front and guests have their on door and seat in the back. While I've not gotten to test drive the Hellcat, I've put much time in the 6.4l SRT and love that they come fully kitted out. The only options are color of exterior/interior and what type of rims.
I wish Dodge would incorporate more retro Charger looks than they currently are, but I think they've done great stuff with the Challenger. My girlfriend used to refuse to ride in my car because she was upset at how many people often commented on the looks of the car and not her, but alas that's why my pup will now get the front seat. Now if I could just find her some doggles and a scarf.....
