very sorry to hear that MW. Sincere condolences to you and your family and friends Add mine to that. I had my own brush with the 'Big C'.
In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But in practice, there is.

MudWasp;
My thoughts are with you. I have 3 relatives with cancer in various stages. One with colon cancer and two with Non-Hodgkins Lymphoma, so I know where of you speak. This cancer is epidemic in proportion with 1 in 3 people likely to get it in their life time. We haven't made all that much progress in dealing with it given the monetary resources committed to a cure. We can only hope!
Best Regards mate!

My deepest condolences, MudWasp.
There's no good time to lose someone close but near a holiday is especially bad. My father passed away on July 5th, 1990, my mother-in-law between mine and my wife's birthdays (only 12 days apart) and then my wife succumbed to various health issues, cancer being one, on Valentine's Day nearly four years ago.
I'm sure she didn't hate you, MudWasp. Rather it was the feeling that she needed your help.
When I get to missing my wife really badly I make a point of thanking God for the 21 years together He gave us.
SALUTE TO ALL!

She never smoked, seldom drank.
I don't get how cancer picks a target.
Some things make it more likely, but there is always a small chance. It's random bad luck of the worst kind. My sister is happily still alive, but I have lost friends and loved ones in the same way. It's really heart-breaking, I know. Try to focus on remembering the good times. That's hard to do sometimes, but which memory would you rather associate her with?
