Totally lost me there.

I see the addition of the 190 as a more future oriented choice and also trying to appease the Luft crowd. Zak and Loft both acknowledged early on that the 190 and the La both were not at Stalingrad. I see the Macchi as the same thing partly and I say bring it on. Any new aircraft will be a welcome addition to the sim in my opinion.

Although the FW190 flew on the Eastern Front,I don't think it flew at Stalingrad.

It didn't... I don't think the La did either.

Of course they can have a Maachi.

They cannot stay in Russia over a white map forever though.
Well, perhaps they can, forever for them may not actually be far off.

Go to other flight sim advertisements on Steam like IL-2 1946 or even Wings of Prey!

And you will note they use strictly in game clips....not this CGI nonsense for BoS!

Why would another failed sim be a good thing? How could that help the genre? Even if you don't like it... How can another failed sim help the genre of WWII flight sims?

I don't get it.




Some of the posts on this board say a lot as well.... sadly.

La-5 well documented at Stalingrad, Macchi 202 flew at Stalingrad although in small numbers, FW190 flew at same period on the Novosokolniki map available in game at release, and will be complemented by the release of Velikie Luki full size map.

The BoS Steam promo is an over the top misrepresentation (a nice term for L__) This is not an accident on their part.

What's bewildering is people that defend these practices....thinking that somehow or another...the sow's ear will turn into the silk purse

It happens all the time. You see commercials in theaters and on TV all the time for games with trailers that look nothing like in game footage and even more so than this. It is SoP in the gaming industry.

CGI promo is hardly uncommon, indeed most games use CGI trailers. There's nothing dishonest about it (well, nothing unusual for game marketing, at least).

Granted, they SHOULD add gameplay vids, and I'm not sure why they haven't. Graphics and simulation itself are great, so showing a vid of a dogfight or takeoff/landing, or a flight over stalingrad would look great. This sim is gorgeous, so some vids would be cool.

That said, great news about the Macchi, looking forward to seeing what new additions we'll be getting.

Whether or not another failed sim helps of hurts the genre is not the criteria I personally use when buying games.
I buy games based on the possible enjoyment I will get from playing it.

Some people think it is necessary to buy everything, good or bad that a company puts out, some do not.

I early accessed bos thinking I would end up with a successor to IL2 1946, I was mistaken and as long as you do not yet dictate the discussion
I will continue to talk about this game.

You might be doing the game a disservice instead of advancing its cause.

It's ALL CGI.....This is indefensible!....why the misdirections? (to other unrelated titles or times)

Especially considering the controversy with this title

They should be bending over backwards to be transparent

But that would be departing from established (upon release) protocol with this team.

Truth be told there are more than enough in game videos around to give a more honest picture of what BoS looks like than that promo.. and the vids are not bad at all.... In fact they are close to what is in that video.. The biggest thing to me is the pilot in the pit.. as far as it being different from the sim.. the rest is very close. Close enough so that a person wouldn't go WTH!! when they got the sim.

The Fw 190 is "UFO" in Stalingrad, but La5 and Macchi Mc 202 no.
