I just stumbled across this group doing covers of hit songs in totally different ways and they've blown me away. If like me you're tired of hearing All About that Bass, wait till you hear this 100x better version:
And how about vintage bluegrass version of Anaconda??
There's over 60 of these and many of them take a lame song and make them actually worthwhile.

I don't think I'll ever have this problem.
It's the kids, right? My brother has a daughter and knows (or knew) far more about the current music scene than I do.

My wife hates most Metallica (and other occasional Metal I listen to, I'd just embarrass myself discussing it with this crowd), and that's why *I* have to wear headphones!
Headphones make everyone happy.

"All About that Bass" is no worse than some of the crappy pop songs from the 60's and 70's.
“Whoever fights monsters should see to it that in the process he does not become a monster. And if you gaze long enough into an abyss, the abyss will gaze back into you.”
I had never heard the "Bass" song, so had to look it up. Got about half way through it before I had heard enough.
The jazz take is actually a pretty interesting construction. And the girl sings it in a really fun way.
It's sad how when the "real" tracks seem to have that same-old same-old processed sound, right from the very first second! It's been years since I messed with digital audio effects processors, but I'm thinking it's a mix of something like a tight delay chorus plus a super slow phaser (or flanger). Song after song.

I recently looked over the Billboard Top 100 out of curiosity and found the "...Bass" song (#3). Eh, the Taylor Swift chick (#1...forget the name) is pretty cute. I'll stay in the musical past until something I find enjoyable comes along.

She is pretty smoking, but I like her because she stays true to her fans. I've seen some specials on her where she goes way out to the rafters for people who can't afford to sit way up close. She was on a Barbara Walters special recently at #2. On this latest album her record label and execs wanted her to add some country to it, whether is was a few songs or instruments and she was dead against it. She makes all her own decisions from merchandise. She even had parties for fans at 7 homes where she sang all her new songs off this album.
I don't like country, but I like her, yet don't own her music.

I love it when musicians totally rip apart and change a song and make it their own, will listen when i get home where i have speakers and not 5 grinders, panel hammers and chassis pullers belting my eardrums into submission.
