Remember what the old Frontier and Elite games looked like? This was in the Plutarch system if I remember correctly
This is Bobby Rahal, thanks for playing the trial version of Microsoft's CART Precision Racing

Nice. I've had a few moments like that, when you just sit back in your chair and say "Wow!" out loud to yourself. I can't stop playing!
Gareth UNDERSTEER - is when you hit the wall with the front wing. OVERSTEER - is when you hit the wall with the back wing. HORSEPOWER - is how fast you hit the wall. TORQUE - is how far you can take the wall with you. Read my scale modelling blog at www.latibuliser.com or mfhmazda787.com

Moreover with the latest patch it was introduced the possibility to turn off the SC orbital lines and graphical gravity wells.

Looks so amazing. I just have no time for something like this right now, not 'til I get sick of a few other games at least. I'm just gonna enjoy yalls pretty vids and pics until I can't take it anymore. BTW, how hard is it to fly an interstellar spaceship? I mean, I learned Falcon 4.0 and Longbow2 on max realism. Is E:D harder, easier? Will I be learning keyboard maps for a month?

It's very easy to fly. If you can fly the F-16, then this is very easy. Note that this is in space, so you can turn off your engines and stop, or turn off flight assist and coast forever. But then you can move up/down/left/right as well with your thrusters. It does get some getting used to, but very easy as you don't have to maintain forward motion to have "lift."
Plus flying through the airlock into and out of stations is really cool.

Arthur it's about the same learning curve as the original IL-2. The game has depth, but it's not crazy complex. Your startup procedure is selecting "Leave landing pad" in the station's menu, raising your gear, and pointing your ship out the airlock.
It's not like Falcon where the learning curve is because of the complexity and reading manuals for procedures, it's more just learning "hey, there's a lot of pirates in X system, I can go there to make good money" or "I bought this scanner and now I can trail and chase people when they jump from system to system".

Had a few "wow" moments flying last night. Flew in supercruise right under this giant Saturn like planet with rings and everything.
Compared to playing DCS or IL2 I find Elite pretty easy control wise. The x52 has a stock profile that automatically starts up. Everything is really easy to figure out. I only had to add a couple things, it probably took 15 minutes of figuring out...unlike DCS or IL2 which takes me days sometimes to setup just how I like it.

Ouch... Yep- That's me. A little misunderstanding with the law. I eventually bailed that system and reached Victor Knave...

I've been using the Eagle for combat and exploration and a stripped out Hauler for well hauling but I've been thinking of moving up to a bigger ship that can combine jobs and the Cobra seems to be a good choice.

Cobra is really great. Many possibilities of upgrading in quite a radical way. Managed to get an hyperjump max distance in excess of 19 light years. Plus it can be really kitted out as a clever swing role craft. I already have other ships, but the "Wolfram" is by large my favourite so far. @Ice: I swear it was a mistake. But I went back and paid my dues.

Thanks, I've got to say the Cobra is awesome cost me every single cr I had though so I had to start from the bottom again (Didn't want to sell my beautiful Eagle) Almost got me killed a couple of times as I got to cocky (getting to close to a star fuel scooping, trying to take on an Anaconda ) I'm currently hanging around the edge of Imperial space, doing some missions and taking out any wanted guys along the way ALL HAIL THE EMPEROR - BASK IN HIS GREATNESS! I hear the emperor's a real humble guy... Ringworld. Some system with planet names like Fragmaster and Biffland

Awesome shots, I see you're taking on Anacondas and winning. I tend to run from anything Python and up. An Anaconda was actually my very first fight back in the Sidewinder, I was actually doing pretty good until I got a phone call and came back to the insurance screen! Some more action oriented pics from before I upgraded my weapons. Nice Cobra you've got there Aston Nice explosion you've got there Aston The awesome looking Imperial Clipper Not looking too good The awesome looking Ex-Clipper No comment
