That's a great idea.

Pretty Baby or Dragon Slayer
Ilya Muromets
Arrow
St Ives Blues

240 on the nose

Profit!

I haven't had time for much video gaming at all lately, but I tried to get in a CW match a couple days ago. Wait time was only a couple of minutes, but once I got in, things were choppy as hell and then MWO crashed. I can count the total number of times that MWO has ever crashed on me on one hand. Not a great first impression.

However, last night I thought I'd give it another try. Again, the wait time was only a couple of minutes. I ended up being on the defending team on the snow map. WOW! What a fun match. There were several minutes of peek-a-boo sniping to start things off, but it then turned waves of attackers trying to push through our defenses with lots of brawling and skirmishing. Total match time was about 27 minutes and I brought in 335K. We won by a pretty wide margin, but it was fun. One of the guys sent out a TS server address while waiting to drop, so we were all on comms.

My deck was Flame, HBK-4H, HBK-4SP, and HBK-4P (<- didn't get used). I almost cleared 900 points in the -4SP. I will definitely have to play around with the drop deck more. I felt like the game play would have suited a lot of mechs that haven't been used in a while.

Looking forward to trying this out tonight ... if everyone isn't on Elite ... or maybe both.

I will be getting on tonite. Do we all need to be the same faction? If so, Kurita...correct?
Is there anything else I need to know?
Pretty sure I will need some time in the mechlab...should I be favoring brawling builds?

Drop the X5 for a Stalker or Banshee and you are good.

I just realized I totally wasted an opportunity to bring another heavy instead of my 3rd HBK.

Next time: Flame, DRG-1N, HBK-4SP/4H, CN9-AH

Gonna have to steal an XL300 from my catapults, though.

You shouldn't have to do anything with factions. It changed everybody with (SHQ) tags to Kurita for the duration of the contract.

Builds at this point I'm not 100% sure. I've been scoring insane points with a Vindicator 1X with ERPPC, LRM15, and 3 Machine guns, believe it or not. Basically I was running 3 skirmishers and a tank. ( VND-1X, VND-SIB, BJ-A, BNC-3E )

On DEFENSE, LRM has come in handy more times than I would have thought, if only to damage/destroy any fast mechs that break through and make a run for the base gun generator. For attack mode I am less confident but I think at least one solid tanky STD engine mech for soaking damage at gate breakthrough is vital.

Then I'm not all heroes and i don't have either of those mechs :-(

My 4 ac5 cata-4x is really doing well.
Might change my Jaeger to 2 AC10, 4 ML

So my normal drop deck remains:
4sp, JM6S, CTF4x, YLW

Jagers with STD engines are good. My AC40 had a field day in one round. Bring ammo!
I had 3 Jagers and lead off with a Firestarter. The FS was disposable, just for scouting with jumpjets, or putting arty on generators when we attacked.

I'll be on tonight, prob around the usual time.

Your targets on attack:

Generators on the other side of the gates, in order to open the gates.

The ultimate goal, the orbital gun from a distance, the generator is on the back.

The generator on the back. Seems to repair over time if damage is done and then it gets left undisturbed.

I'm glad my sacrificial run to the back of the gun was not in vain. It was educational.

The game came up right after people started dropping off. We got in a round where there was no other team, then a round where we defended vs clan and won pretty decisively.
They added 3 more generators that the attackers have to take out before they get access to the main gun generator, that's enclosed until that point. No more rushes, or at least in theory.
So rushes are somewhat dealt with, but things are still heavily weighted to the defenders in general.

I think I've finally got a solid drop deck worked out:

Raven 3L - dual ERLL - XL
Cicada 3M - dual ERLL, dual ML - XL
Cataphract Ilya Muromets - AC20, 2 LL - STD engine
Banshee 3S - 6 ML, AC20, LRM15 - STD engine

getting some good scores and a few wins to boot. AC20 is invaluable on defense when you only get one or two shots to kill or disable a fast mech, and the STD engines keep em in the fight long enough to bring the hurt.
