Decided to change the name as I'll probably go back into various Ironhand stuff again. But for now it's a good "abstract" name for the topic rather than just what it was.

Finally decided to upload the WIP Ironhand Guide:

http://562.50megs.com/562nd/DCS%20Ironhand%20Guide.pdf

I still have the I-HAWK and the Patriot and still a bit rough anyway but she should be a good start anyway.

Not a tactical guide per se, but some collected thoughts (and I've been too distracted with some client work for Arma 3 and real life) on doing skinning. It's very rough so its a work in progress, but I figure somebody might need it or help somewhat.

Once 50megs fixes themselves I'll change the link

Eric,

If you have trouble with USN schemes, I recommend Googling MIL-STD-2161 (currently on the C version I believe), which is the paint guide for USN/USMC aircraft. You get the pattern as well as the FS colors to use, and it makes things much simpler. Of course, adding weathering can be tough (carrier planes only have that clean of a scheme coming out of the plant), but at least the paint guide gives you a start. I usually use a cloud pattern at 10-15% opacity to add weathering if it needs it.

The other thing with USN/USMC painting is that squadrons use what they have on hand, so there are plenty of deviations from the paint guide. You often see MODEX (side numbers) in aircraft black as opposed to the blue grey, and you might have different colors for the roundel (black vs. blue-grey vs. light grey). As long as you go with the book and take some minor deviations you'll be ok.

The average naval aviator, despite the sometimes swaggering exterior, is very much capable of such feelings as love, affection, intimacy, and caring. These feelings just don't involve anyone else.

Um... thanks... but I don't think I inferred I had issues with doing USN/USMC skins. If you check the Super Hornet Package for SF2 I did in 2009, I was the main texture artist with some assistance (mainly decals from JAT81500. And I believe I've done some Tomcat skins as early as like... 2003 or 2002

Thanks though.
