I recall from the old OFF days that the was a view that could be pulled up with a keystroke (F1?) in which you saw the world laid out before you, but the airplane disappeared altogether. Is that still possible?

In theory, there is no difference between theory and practice. But in practice, there is.

.

F3 I believe will make the plane invisible when you are in the cockpit.

Someday I hope to write a story of the fictional pilot in our simulation, who doesn't quite understand what's happening around him. Like in this case, "Great Scott! Where'd my airplane go?!"

Or another off the wall thought - a cartoon still in flyby view, with a word balloon to the aircraft, "Sorry, I don't pick up hitchhikers!" Gee, maybe a video with a voiceover would be even funnier if you could simulate the voice passing by the viewpoint.

Perhaps that's as funny as Tiny Tim's crutch to some of you, but I'll admit I have an oddball sense of humor...

Notice, if you will, that I've added nothing of value to the discussion. apologies to all... <slinks away...>

Nope. F3 is the Fly-By Key. I've punched them all ( I think) and I'm not seeing it.

F4 it was...but, it's a "sometimes" thing. I opened up a QC Free Flight (using my last settings) and it appeared just as when I left it: in F3 mode with the white Alb. doing Fly-Bys. I pressed F4. Nothing. I pressed F1, 2 and3. Nothing. I cycled the views using F1. Then F4. Nothing. It took a few go'rounds of this until, suddenly, F4 did it for me. At least now we know it's there; it just takes perseverance. Thanks, Robert.

F4 switches virtual cockpit on and off.
That's why you have to cycle to your cockpit view with F1 and then press F4 to hide the cockpit.

When the cockpit is hidden you will get a small reticle drawn on screen if you have virtual instruments enabled (switched by F5 key).

That is oh so weird! Any chance you have some conflicting key assignments with your devices?

I missed Ankor's post. He has it correct!

So that's the secret? Thanks, AnKor.
