Getting back into IL-2 and looking to reinstall the IL-2 1946 disk.
The newcomer guide is very helpful and brings back memories. Only question is i have BOE, TLD and Ostfront.
Do I patch to 4.10 first? Then add the addons, and then enjoyr patch (B patch obviously)? There are several new dll's, and speech packs that will be overwritten with the old dll's in the addons. The best option, imo, is to load the IL-2 1946 DVD, then the addons, and then the patches. This way the new dll's and speech packs will be utilized. Install the IL-2 1946 DVD (The DVD version should be v4.07m or v4.08m), Install the v4.08m patch (Depending on the DVD version this step may be unnecessary), Install the BoE, TLD, and Ostfront addons, Install the v4.09m patches, Install the Enjoyr patches, Install the rest of the patches to get to v4.12.2m - 1946 DVD - v4.07m or v4.08m*
- v4.08m Patch
(Depending on your DVD version it may already be v4.08m making this step unnecessary.) - BoE, TLD, and Ostfront addons
- v4.09m
- v4.09m skins patch
- Enjoyr Patches - use the ones that are compatible with your installation.
- v4.10m
- v4.11m
- v4.12m
- v4.12.1m
- v4.12.2m
You can get most of the patches here at SimHQ. IL-2 Series Downloads: http://simhq.com/forum/ubbthreads.php/forums/265/1/IL-2_Series_DownloadsThis patching guide at M4T has links to all of the patches too. IL-2 Sturmovik 1946 Patching Guide: http://www.mission4today.com/index.php?name=Knowledge_Base&op=show&kid=584Wheels Edit: (November 01, 2014 - 18:30 PST) I re-ordered the patching sequence and moved the Enjoyr patches after the v4.09m patches. This was done because EnjoyR updated his patches so they would be compatible with the v4.09m patches.

@wheelsup_cavu - the enjoyr readme states to install on v4.09 but above it states to install it on 4.08. Which is correct? Install the EnjoyR patches after you install the v4.09m patches. I forgot he had updated them after the v4.09m patch was released. I will edit my prior post to change that mistake. Wheels

Isn't there an issue with BoE (it looks for the original FB .exe and does not recognize the 1946 one, or something like that)? I personally had trouble installing the patch but not the addon. Wheels

The Steam version is on sale for $4
I've got at least one copy of the DVD laying around -- somewhere
So a question about Steam (I have CloD on Steam)
If I buy the Steam 1946, will I have any problem modding/patching it to my taste?
Might be worth it...because then with a Steam copy it is available anywhere

Buy the Steam Edition...up to the minute with patches and when copied to another folder, any mod pack can be applied, ie HSFX...

Hey all, I have an IPS monitor, fairly up to date hardware. Playing at 1028 Noticing a "banding effect", where things look a tad crapola particularly in the sky. Can anyone supply advice on how to get the best graphically out this sim?

Can anyone supply advice on how to get the best graphically out this sim? Take a look at this thread. I'm using this conf.ini setup and it is supposed to be the absolute maximum IL-2 1946 has to offer according to Hlander and T}{or http://forum.1cpublishing.eu/showthread.php?t=29560Maybe there is newer/better information, but this is the best I've found so far.

Must be something in the air, I just started flying it again too. I think I have every boxed edition sold...those were the days.... Yep, must be in the air...lol... I 'was' going to try a new flight sim, then read all there is to read about it/them, and decided I don't need all that grief. I just want to fly a campaign in 1944-45' Europe....so here I am, again. Thanks for the instructions on the 're-install'. I already have all the 'patches'...on my own DVD.....might try the new ones also. For some reason I never got past 4.11 Flying the Mustang. DBW. Might try the DCG for a Campaign this time....
