Did you update the firmware, as from the website?

Check what you're plugging it into as well. Might not be getting enough power from the USB port?

thanks for the replies, Guys.
I have uninstalled target, then reinstall, then uninstall again, I have tried different usb plugs, different system, win xp and win7/64, I have tried uninstalled all other USB devices, I have tried reinstalled the newest TM driver,
but the problem remains.
I have emailed TM, and finally after a week they replied, they say it might be the pot, but so far there is no definitive answer, they still investigate it.

Have you tried to connect it to a powered hub?

Make sure you are connecting the throttle directly to one of the motherboard's USB ports. Do not connect via a USB from the case. Try different USB ports, but make sure you only use the ones that are on the motherboard. Try a powered USB hub.... these devices pull power from your system via the USB cable and sometimes the motherboard cannot supply all the power needs. I have my gear connected to a powered USB hub which connects to one of the motherboard's main USB ports. Go to Control Panel -> Devices and Printers --- you should see your throttle there. Select it, right-click, and select Game Controller Settings. Select Throttle - HOTAS Warthog and click Properties. On the Test tab, you can test out your buttons and axis there, reset to default, or calibrate your WH.

Hi Ice, Thanks for the reply. Make sure you are connecting the throttle directly to one of the motherboard's USB ports. Do not connect via a USB from the case.
Try different USB ports, but make sure you only use the ones that are on the motherboard. I have tried lots of USB ports. I have tried lots of different systems: xp, 7/32, 7/64, and windows 8.1. But the same problem remains: z and rz axis are not detected. Try a powered USB hub.... these devices pull power from your system via the USB cable and sometimes the motherboard cannot supply all the power needs. I have my gear connected to a powered USB hub which connects to one of the motherboard's main USB ports.
I have not tried powered USB since I do not have it. However, since all the buttons and other axis work perfectly, I do not think that this is a power issue. Go to Control Panel -> Devices and Printers --- you should see your throttle there. Select it, right-click, and select Game Controller Settings. Select Throttle - HOTAS Warthog and click Properties. On the Test tab, you can test out your buttons and axis there, reset to default, or calibrate your WH.
yes, I have already done that. as I wrote before, I find all the buttons and other axis work, but z and rz axis do not.

Will PC Case honor the warranty if you open up the throttle to look inside? It might be silly to go through all this hassle if all that is broken is a wire inside that you can easily solder back on.

I have already asked that question to them. They say it is ok to open it up as long as I do not broken any seals.
So yes, I have opened it and look for anything broken or unusual, but I can not find it. There is no broken wires.
Then, last week, inspired by franx's thread, I opened the right throttle handle. Alas, I can't find any broken wires or anything, everything looks normal.
so I put everything back together again. and plug it into my system (again).
at first everything looks exactly as before, z and rz axis don't work, all the button works, axis x and y works. but after I move the throttle for sometimes,
suddenly z and rz axis GET DETECTED again.
however, they get detected only for a few seconds, then it is gone. then I unplug and replug the throttle, and it get detected again, but again only for a few seconds.
I can repeat the process about 6 or 7 times, now it won't be detected at all.
So I think the culprit is most likely bad board or components or IC that process the signal from the sensor.

The most frustrating part is when TM decided not to help.
And TM is not exactly easy to ask about.
They always say that this problem is because of the bad pots. But when I asked them why both of them (z and rz axis) can be broken at the same exact time, they simply do not answer, they just repeat that this problem is because of the bad pots.
Not to mention I have to wait for a week for the replies. Yes, Ice, I hate waiting too. Especially when I ask them such a simple question: Can you send the parts to my nephew's address in Australia?
Why does it take so long for them to reply?

At this point, if I were you, I'd start a support ticket all over again as a "new" customer. Just like others, sometimes you will need to jump through hoops to get results. Unfortunately, your geographical location means you've got a few more hoops to get through compared to the rest of us.
If you went to them and said "I don't want to 'fix' a brand new Warthog, give me a new one instead" and they say "Okay, return it to your point of purchase and we'll send you a new one," you'd have an easier time if you lived in Australia and could just drive down to the retail store. We can lament on the demise of good customer support or sensible warranty rules but at the end of the day, we can tire ourselves out and still get no results.
