Hi Guys,
We have had quite a few questions over this so if you dont want to know some of the finer mechanisms at play then read no further.
1) Regional Air Activity:
This setting is to help folks adjust the number of craft in the players region to suit his FPS requirements/CPU/GPU power.
WOFF puts up over 200 aircraft spread out in a radius in the players region and in the case of attacking UK, in SE England its what we call the LIVING WORLD.
These Craft/Flights are all from real squads flying real missions from their historically correct airfields as they go about their daily tasks - there are NO SPAWNS in WOFF.
These flights are scaled according to the actual air activity represented in the players region historically as it was and it varies from year to year region to region based on research data.
This setting then scales the number of flights so as to maintain air balance between powers but allow the user to set up the density of traffic to suit his PC.
Note that if in Alsace you could probably up this setting as there was less activity anyway in this region historically and thus one could possibly approach representable air activity figures.
Alas we cannot at the moment create traffic exactly as we would like - we simply dont have the CPU power available at the moment.
With each phase I have increased the traffic until one day we hope to be able to put up the real thing in the whole theatre.
However what we have achieved with our 'living world' still sets the benchmark for combat flight sims.
2) Encounters.
This setting simply increases the chance of flights occuring at the players Target/Patrol area or along his path - some folks want instant gratification every mission and thus this is for them.
