I have a rather unique cockpit which is a rather large screen I have Dubbed Nephilims Virtual simulator..
Now recently I been trying to determine how to determine the best FOV for each one of my Sims.. I finally decided that getting some measuremnts from the plane either a MFD or Gauge of a specidfied aircraft..
I just figured to get as real as possible since I have a rather large area to look at to set a 1:1 ratio for what I see on the screen to what it is IRL..
Now I have the measurement for an F16 MFD inner measurement which is 4.25" or at least the Cougar MFD measures that..
So I am looking for measurements from something from the following Aircraft:
1. SU-27 preferably the Radar screen.. 2. F-15 Radar screen dimensions.. 3. SU-25T Shkval TV SCreen 4. A-10A the little maverick screen.. 5. A-10C MFD inner measurement. I am guessing same as the F16?? 6. Huey UH1H center console.. 7. F-86 HUD.. 8. F-16 MFD just to verify size.. 9. KA-50 Abbris or Shkval TV Screen..
This was I can go ingame and set the FOV to the same measurement or roughly the same to give a Real life view of the cockpit life size if you will..
From the Cougar measurments I did the F16 and it looked pretty good it was zoomed in a bit closer then the 110Degree I normally had but it is more to life size now which is what I am after or at least will try for a bit and see how it works..
I have been reading for Driving simulators and applying what they doi there to a flight simulator to better mimmick and give me more accurate cues..
Here is a video of it in action with F4 BMS MAverick Training mission:
EDIT: OK I just found out the Russian birds have similar HUDS so know that I know the dimensions of the ABRIS I can measure ingame the HUD of the KA50 and carry that over to the other Russian planes..
Thing is if I do 1 plane all should be set as they use the same LUA file or plane set for the Russian birds besides the MIG-21 and KA50 which uses its own number set for FOV.,.
I am going to go test this setting and see what happens BRB!!
Well my friend I* would if you lived close enough help you for free to build it.... The biggest cost is space.. and other factors WAF is a big one to those with a significant other..
I have gained tons of knowledge with this build and willing to share..
But all in all you would need at least 1-3grand for all of it.. but if you already have a decent PC that can come down, also if you have a HOTAS well it will drop even more.. it really depends what you want to spend and what you want..
My Projectors where about $250USD but they where used saved a bunch that route and just bought new bulbs..
Anyone got any measurements for the ARH attack Helicopters Display Screens? They are larger than the NATO USA series screens and done by Dornier I think...
Thrustmaster's Cougar MFD is very close to authentic F16 MFD.The differences are very minor. But if you really want authentic measurements, go to Hempstick website and find them in the F16 MFD 3D model, http://www.hempstick.org/The_Official_Hempstick_Site/F16_MFD.html.
I don't have all the F16 parts 3D model yet. But check out what else you need on the site.
