Rrrrrrooooooolllllll Tttttiiiiiddddeeeee!
Forget the rankings and the super duper analysis - it's the Iron Bowl, and anything can and will happen. Not only is Alabama coming off of a game against those chop blocking dirty playing Western Carolina ijits* with some injuries to some of their starters, with Auburn out of the post-season this is how they can redeem themselves. Winning the Iron Bowl is as big a deal as the SEC championship around here. Gonna be a great game.
* They should be barred from playing IA (FCS) ever again. It's one thing to play aggressively, but WC was playing to hurt Alabama players and put them out for the rest of the season. Players get hurt from time to time, but the chop blocks were telegraphed and obvious. It was clear they were coached for them and had practiced on them. A program that includes drills designed to permanently injure players should be banned from football altogether.

And that was just one. There were many, many more, though only one other was called.

Piper, you know that UNC says that State isn't their rival. And they're also saying wait till basketball season now. And as usual, the scoreboard was blanked before the game was even over, so nobody could get pictures of it at the end of regulation. Nate Irving put the blowout best:
A whooping like that kinda makes you not even wanna show your face in class on Monday..............oh wait

See ya in Atlanta, Dart. I don't harbor any expectation of an upset but will be watching and hoping just the same.
As far as Rivalry Week goes, it's in our DNA to hate jayhawks, but we gave that up when we left the Big 12. So the SEC cooked up something with Arkansas called the "Battleline Rivalry presented by Shelter Insurance."
Harrumph. At least they have kansas in their name.

@splash. Nice one.
I can't talk football smack just now but let's keep it alive even though MU left....you're still slavers!

I dislike fake rivalries. The Alabama/Auburn rivalry is pretty real - they actually cancelled games between the universities for forty years because it was so vicious.
The wife and I are convinced they gave Sims more than just a cortizone shot to the ankle at halftime. Dude had trouble stepping back due to that strained achillies tendon when they went to the locker room and limping to running the ball, zig zagging around blockers. Our money is on novocaine that took effect five minutes in to the second half.
Mizzou/Tide game will be a good one. The teams are just different enough to make it interesting. While I don't like total "down to the wire" games (it seems like it's more random break than skill a lot of the times - read "Kick Six" - that determine the winners), I detest blowouts even more.
I made the mistake of reading some Internet stuff about the Iron Bowl after the fact and man, oh man, do a lot of Yankees and other foreigners absolutely hate the SEC.

I'm an FSU Fan, but damn the way they play this year pisses me off. I don't care that they're undefeated, they should be killing these teams and are always just squeaking by...
