if you do a file search for Panzer_Elite.exe, you should find PE's folder.

The version of the game is displayed at the top of the main menu. If you still need patch 1.2, you can grab it from http://home.comcast.net/~ab707/ The link is right below the JoWooD logo

I think I have my first issue figured out. All those files are in my PE folder.(for some reason the game installer opened up those files in a separate window)

Britt44, that link doesn't seem to work for me.

Also do we need the Ostpak or any other mods for this mod to work or just PE v1.2?

PP2-x mod requirements:
Panzer Elite patched to version 1.2.
Directx 9.0c
Windows "compatibility mode" (the mod will not work with compatibily mode turned on)

If the link doesn't work this time, try copying the link and paste it into a new window, or you could highlight the link, then right-click and select open link.

version 1.2 patch: http://home.comcast.net/~ab707/

Directx 9 link: http://www.microsoft.com/en-us/download/details.aspx?id=7087

PP2X beta 1.2 is not self installing, you must point the zip to your PE. It's still in beta, so I can't knock Slomo for not making it self installing. I release my alpha and beta's in zip form also.

Coot,
Realy? You could not link to my Comcast home page? I did set up the hyper link as copy/paste only. The full path to the 1.2 patch is http://home.comcast.net/~ab707/patch12.exe . The second pressing of PESE and the Nordic Games version from GOG should be PESE 1.2.

You can tell if a zip file installed a mod properly as the mods must go into the mods folder, have a two layer deep folder after the mod (example: mods/ostpak/ostpak), and have an ini file named the same as the double folders in the mods folder (example: mods/ostpak.ini). frown sorry but the only thing PEx that is self installing is PEx version 1.03.

If you want the Eastern front, your only choices are the Ostpak mod for PESE 1.2 or the PE3 mod that is not officialy supported by me.

I ?think? I have it installed now.?.

I updated game to patch 1.2
I extracted the PP2-x_Beta1.1_full file to the "Mods" folder in Panzer Elite
I downloaded and replaced the 3D configurator tool that Brit44 linked to earlier in this post(now I don't get the numerical memory error highlighted in red)

Seems stable but not sure my graphics look as smooth as those posted here.

One other question please: The readme and tutorial file that came with my game download won't open with Adobe Acrobat. Wordpad just gives me limited text and a bunch of random characters.

Has anyone got a link to something that will work? I found a keyboard command key on another site but the readme and tutorial would be nice to have too.

Just had a look and both those files in my install have a .doc extension so I right-clicked on them and selected 'Open with' in the little popup menu, then selected Wordpad as the program to use. Both opened file in Wordpad.

I have a modest system but am running on 4x anti-aliasing, set in the Nvidia control panel which certainly smooths out the graphics. If you also ran that 3d configurator tool and set a decent screen resolution I'm not sure why your graphics would look less good. Maybe worth running it again to make sure the higher resolution 'stuck'?

Good hunting!

I think 33Lima has posted a very fair image of the graphical quality. Alt-tab out of PE after it starts the scenario and desertfoxlog.txt will tell you the screen and bit data.

If you are counting rivits, you will notice some 2D objects and some 3D objects that need more work.

My personal opinion is that PP2X_Beta_1.2 is on par with CMAK. The missing rivit count could be added by modders, but the 2D rivits are not as easy to add and the 3D bits to surpass CMAK are missing model LODs and more texture space.

33 did you do the Churchill supporting advance scenerio or was that 5? I have not had any input on the AI scripts since then. That is another case where it is easier to edit the file then use the editor.

Hi Aldo.
Do you mean 'South of Hill 122'? That one was mine. You sent me the files (which I'd lost) a while ago but I haven't had a go at fixing the mission so it would run reliably. Nor have I tried it in PE-X as Brit44 isn't available for that. Maybe when Slomo releases the Shermans I could remake it with M4A1s and Firelfies.

Not sure what you mean, easier to edit the file than use the (mission?) editor. Do you mean that editing unit properties rather than the mission, might be an easier way to stop units getting stuck? Or just hand-editing the mission file, outside of the ME? Which 'getting stuck' issue I think was what often caused my attempt to create a realistically-phased tank-infantry attack, to hang up, as one or more units failed to follow the script, fell behind and triggers didn't fire, leaving the player's platoon doing the fairly common 'solitary PE drive in the countryside'.

Yes, I am refering to S of Hill 112. I learned a lot about programming AI and VS6's debugger while watching all the engine logic flaws. Nearly all of the AI tactical code changes are based upon that scenerio.

I ment it is easier to edit the AI scripts in a text editor then it is in the scenario editor. The SE doesn't always save your changes correctly. PE's scripts are rather basic, but there were several that were not finished by the original programmer. I added debuglog text for those.

The main timing bug with tanks is platoon collision. The script's platoon number is used to halt a greater numbered platoon from passing through the area occupied by a smaller number. A troop can not progress if any member enters this area. If a tank becomes immobilized then the area becomes large. But that rule is dependant on moving troop formation and if player or not. You can turn platoon collision off (false or 0) in one of the ini file. Your orginal script worked best is you spread out all platoons by someting like another 300M.

The other problem with supporting infantry was a lack of infantry's ability to fight other infantry at distance less then 100M. PEx has code to randomly simulate a 'knife' fight, similar to the infantry de-tracking a tank.

I never did finish up the logic need for moving up suporting mortars.

It would be really good to have an M4A1 76mm as well as the M4A3 76mm, as the former is what they got in Normandy...just pop the T23 turret on the M4A1 hull and she's done.

Nice skin! I understand the original is the Saumur King Tiger, but did they ever paint them like that? The Bovington one has what looks like the correct shade for Dunkelgelb (and the other colours, tho the Rotbraun and Dunkelgrun will ahve varied depending on how they were thinned and applied):

The barrel painting is upside down tho, the countershading should have the lighter colour on the bottom of the gun tube.

Not sure whether it was a camo used in real life or not, but I kinda liked it a lot and wanted to make a similar one. The "bovington" pattern is the next one I'm gonna do.

Btw here is a pp2-x video:

Great Daskal, the Bovington KT is a classic and even if it's just the zimmerit, looks a bit more 'in service' than their rather 'shiny' Jagdpanther in the background.

Neat to have a 'preservation' livery for the KT too, strictly authentic or not.

If you're in the mood, how about a KG Peiper version, ambush scheme with no zimmerit?

Great video! Loved the montage near the end. And that was good shooting with those first two Shermans, two first-round kills at over 1000m if I'm not mistaken!

Just curious, what is the time of day and the weather for the night pics. It looks like 1/3 into or out of peak night with clear weather.
