Okay reading the quick start guide it says the designated target. Does that mean I can place the TGP on the target and it'll generate a solution so I can select JDAM and just drop? Or is it the convoluted process that I'm thinking is in the manual?

Short answer: yes.
Longer answer: The jet will generate a ccrp solution for any spi on the ground, be it created by the tgp, tad, cdu or hud.

I thought you had to put a mark point down then slave all to that spi drop in ccrp and the jdam will fall there.

No, you just need to create the SPI - TMS up long with your selected sensor (HuD, TGP, Map, maverick, whatever you need).

I think I do it my way, so I can launch jdams in rapid succession by scrolling through mark points. I guess if you want to sit there and watch a single bomb fall like when you laze a gbu12. But with mark pointed jdams it's like a fire and forget munitition. You could drop 4 jdams on 4 mark points as fast as you can scroll through the points on your HUD if you set it up right.

Hi, EricJ, Skoop,

Mark Points are good to know, because if you miss your run in by mistakenly moving the SPI (who does that?) you have the saved MPs to go back to.

Yep, that's the only way to fake multiple JDAM delivery in this aircraft. But no, you don't have to be watching the single bomb fall like a GBU. If you have multiple, relatively closely spaced targets, you can drop, re-target, drop again etc.

Well, if you are dropping several JDAMs in a row, I feel Mark points are the way to go. Redirecting your TGP in such a situation would just make me prone to mucking up because I'm stressing. But I suppose that it just comes down to personal preference in the end of the day.

I think the mark-point way is superior, just saying it's not the only way smile

Wow it was a bit easier than I thought, again taking what you all said and the Quick Start PDF managed to do a couple drops easy with it, so now on to LGBs...
