Hi Gents, When I installed the new WOFF2.0 I had to reload the whole game into a new folder and lost everything. Can I get some help on installing SweetFX? I followed this... but still no joy. Thanks! OvS Originally Posted By: MajorMagee Here's how I did my SweetFX install: 1. Edit the d3d8.ini file to NoMultisampling=1 for compatibility with SweetFX and set to 'read only'. 2. Run CFS3Config.exe and make sure you choose your proper display options selection again (i.e. it may show 800 x 600 x 16). 3. Download FlightFX from here http://riseofflight.com/Forum/viewtopic.php?f=49&t=34103 and install it on your computer. 4. Since version 1.0 of Flight FX does not have latest version (1.5.1) of Sweet FX included you need to download that from here http://forums.guru3d.com/showthread.php?t=381912 and extract all of it to the FX folder where you have Flight FX installed. Let it overwrite any of the files that may have the same names as what FlightFX already had. 5. Now you can run Flight FX and click on Register New Game at the bottom left. It will open a dialog box where you'll navigate it to your cfs3.exe file. That will populate the paths at the top right of Flight FX for you. 6. Click on Enable Sweet FX and it will copy most of the needed files into your CFS3 install. It misses SweetFX_compatibility_settings.txt which is in the Flight FX / FX / SweetFX folder and needs to be manually copied into the matching one Flight FX created in your CFS3 directory. 7. Select the FX Preset you want to use from the pull down list. The files behind this list are located in the Flight FX / FX / SweetFX / Presets folder. They are just text files so you can create new presets manually by cut and past if you like. Make a back-up copy of any of your favorites because it is all too easy to overwrite them by mistake in Flight FX. That is really all there is to it. At this point you can edit any of the settings under the FX Settings tab and the effect will be immediate. By default the Scroll Lock key will toggle the shader effects on and off. The Print Screen Key will place a screenshot in your CFS3 root directory (This overrules CFS3 that normally wants to save screenshots in the CFS3 folder under My Documents). If you uncheck the Enable SweetFX box in Flight FX it will uninstall SweetFX (but not the D3D8 and SweetFX_compatibility_settings files you did manually) and you're back to normal. Edited to omit having to download the d3d8.dll files as they are now part of WOFF2.0.

Step 1 shown above is no longer necessary, because Ankor's DX 8 to 9 converter is already built into v2.0. Correct?

I will edit that thread now to point out that downloading my DX mod is no longer necessary and even harmful, because my mod in V2.0 works a bit differently and replacing it with Aug 30th version will cause errors.

Thats a pity... I have RoF sweetFX in my JSGME and it's so easy to just remove it using that system. For WoFF I have to manually insert compatibility settings plus edit another ini file and use Flight FX. If I want to update WoFF I normally just use JSGME to remove my existing mods, no drama, then update and again quickly use JSGME to install mods. Ho hum... such is life If anyone knows a way to use JSGME in the future, please remember me, lol!

The d3d8.ini file you are looking for should be in your main game folder where the WOFF.exe resides. I don't know what file you were editing, there should not be another in 'shaders'.
The d3d8.ini comes standard with the WOFF 2.0 install now as part of the included Ankor's shadow mod.

OvS Rather,its the d3d8.ini file and not the d3d8.dll. Its in the main directory where the WOFF.exe is and whats weird is it can disappear at times.What works for me to make it appear is to start WOFF and then exit and check again.Once you find it and change NoMultisampling=0 to NoMultisampling=1 then save it and make the file read only or it will resort back to default.

Can someone please explain exactly what this means;
'2. Run CFS3Config.exe and make sure you choose your proper display options selection again (i.e. it may show 800 x 600 x 16).'
If I run the CFS3 exe in the main game folder I just keep getting error messages? I don't think that means anything, didn't make much sense in the scheme of things, and I ignored it. SweetFX is apparently working fine in that I see minor differences when I switch it on/off. EDIT: Just tried Hellshades Sweet FX settings and it definitely is working fine without the step mentioned above. They default settings are quite subtle perhaps too much so.

Post a couple of screenshots so I can see what your sim looks like using the settings, please. Also, Make sure you turn OFF any setting that I don't have specifically listed.
Ah. This is something I have to check. I am definitely seeing a difference with SweetFX on and am suffering no FR loss but would like to get everything as great as possible.
