Yep, Star Citizen... not as far along as Elite:Dangerous, but is going places non the less... If you watch the progress videos, you will find that not only will you be able to travel to anywhere in the galaxy, but you can leave your ship and take control of another ship you have damaged or captured and explore it or fight the crew inside with various hand held weapon systems, all in first person view!
Glad your enjoying it, just prepare yourself for disappointment when you fly against humans...especially those flying Hornet's with Mouse and Keyboard, it ain't pretty! ( At least for my efforts in a 325 at any rate )
I'm using the G940 joystick... the game has a built in profile for it. Just a couple of clicks and it was programmed, no drama. And yes of course, taking on a human adversary in any type of flight sim is always more difficult than an AI target.
Not wishing to go too far off topic, but some match-ups Ive been in I have literally lasted seconds once someone started firing at me, while I struggle to get repeated hits on target as they manoeuvre.
Its still very very early days with the balancing of all the ships. So I do hope things improve ( or maybe I just really really suck )
I suspect other people have thrown more money at it and have better ships and weapons... Not a problem though, it will be next year sometime before it is properly released (if we are lucky)
I don't intend to spend more money. I will just work my way up through the game earning credits etc for any upgrades...
I think its a combination of better ship ( Hornet ) which comes with better weapons and control method ( those debates are raging over at the RSI forums so wont repeat here, but it seems that M&K gives you better aiming and joystick gives you better flying. At the moment they are still balancing and of course arena commander is only taking place in a tiny space.
Looking forward to the multi crew ships, especially the gun ship and the FPS and landing on planets and.... I'm looking forward to it all.
"It takes forever +/- 2 weeks for the A-10 to get anywhere significant..." Ice
"Ha! If it gets him on the deck its a start!" MigBuster
"What people like and what critics praise are rarely the same thing. 'Critic' is just another one of those unnecessary, overpaid, parasitic jobs that the human race has churned out so that clever slackers won't have to actually get a real job and possibly soil their hands." Sauron
Flying is pretty enjoyable and relatively easy, but you have to be lightning fast in a dog fight! Targeting and scanning system works fine, and with the latest patch we now have Trackir functionality, but I'm still learning the systems. I'm also looking forward to the 'Squadron 42' campaign, which I believe can be flown both on and offline
Have a look at some of the things you can do when it's released... Watch in HD
