Hi been out of the loop on New Computers for about 10 Years Now. Time to buy a New one and try some of the games out that I have not been able to play. Any recommendations on a New Computer to Play Steel Fury with Latest Mod? If there is a Tower or complete Package for sale out on the internet or in Store all ready to go that someone knows of that is tested and know to be reliable and hopefully glitch free as far as Hardware and Drivers go that would be Great. Which Brand of Video Card does Steel Fury favor Nvidia or ATI, Best Operating System?

What are the Best Joysticks out now? I loved my programmable Microsoft Sidewinder for Steel Beast the original SB1, was able to drive the Tank with programmable buttons on Joystick.

A few other games I plan on buying Strike Fighters, Steel Beast Pro, Silent Hunter 4, must likely give DCS World Flight Sims, IL-2 Series, Battle of Britain 2 a try too!

Also will check out and buy the Best WW1 Sim and Helicopter Sim out, and mostly likely give the best tactical games and realistic FPS games a try, need to research these category's more though.

Thanks for any recommendations and Info?

Lonny

Well that all depends on how much you want to spend.
Check the recommend specs on DCS looking at your other games they should run ok if your new machine can handle DCS.
Don't go by minimum specs always recommended I am getting a new rig after the holidays cant wait
By the way SB has a lot of graphical enhancements shadows etc.

Lonny007 to answer some of your quesitons:

ATI cards seem to agree better with Steel Fury. Iam nto sure if it's the architecture of Nvidia ones but invariably you get the message in game that teh gpu does not meet minimum requirments even if its a mid to high range Nvidia gpu. I have had the experience with 2 laptops with Nvidia gpus with that dreaded message whereas with my desktop which has an ATI and another laptop with ATI as well I didn't have the issue. On our forum many Nvidia users have reported that problem( it's annoying more than really crippling your gaming)and no ATI user.

That being said if you feel like buying a rig or laptop with Nvidia go ahead I mean if you game you hopefully have more than one game to play...

As for minimum specs I would say Intel i5 or i7 . AMD cpus tend to be less performing so I would go for high end one.Graphic card-wise I would say for desktop minimum ATI HD7750( which I have) or the equivalent in the new series 265? Nvidia ones I would say 750 ti something like that. The stock missions don't require much power but the user-made one which are many, more intense and more interesting tend to demand more not to mention the many new modsas well.

Thanks Marko, looks like you are saying DCS is the most demanding out of the bunch! Ya I left my self in the Dust for keeping up with Computers, I have a Pentium 3 1.4 Tualatin Windows 98SE machine for Mig Alley, EAW, Vietcong, and Ghost Recon, and a Dell 8600 XP Pro Laptop with the Ati 9600 Pro Video Card for Swat 4, Sub Command, CAW, Dangerous Waters and Silent Hunter 3. Was a Intel Fan for the era of computers I have, not sure now who is King, but stability is the most important for me. I have allot of research to do, wonder what a $1000 to $2000 gets you for a gaming Tower today.

Hi Frinik22 thats exactly what kind of information I need, I had a feeling this is where it gets difficult deciding what games will be most important to me and going for the Brand of Video card that plays them the best and having to sacrifice a game or 2 because it plays much better on other Brand of Video Card.

Looks like i7 and ATI HD7750 or better then!

Thanks!

I have been gaming for 20 years, and I always bought Falcon Northwest computers. It is the Energizer rabbit or the WII Sherman, when others fall apart, those machines keep running. They build machines tailored on your specific needs.

When most had problems with compatibilities and other glitch with games they would blame, I did not have any.

I paid my credit card company for a year to pay back my first machine.

If you really are committed about gaming, don't fake it, you deserve tools which are at the same level of your commitment.
