If you’re into WWI trench maps and aerial reconnaissance photos then you’re in for a treat. McMasters University has massively increased its digital archive and now has the whole Peter Chasseaud collection (900+ maps) available for digital perusal or even download in you’ve the correct reader. Unfortunately the Chasseaud collection is only available in alphabetical order but for those that haven’t seen it before the earlier collection is still there (460 maps and 580 photos) accessible by sector.

Peter Chassaud Collection: http://digitalarchive.mcmaster.ca/islandora/object/macrepo%3A34

'Earlier' Collection: http://library.mcmaster.ca/maps/ww1/WW1_Maps.htm

For the earlier collection select ‘World War 1 Maps & Air Photos’

Some of these maps may well reveal the nugget of a previously unplaced aerodrome. If you find one, please PM me and let me know, I’ll add it to my database.

Sent from my iPhone so apologies for not hyperlinking fully. C&P should work though.

Oh that I was back in the dear old PBI.
With no more Triplanes on me tail, nor tracer tracing by.
And no more flames and clickerty-clack and no more blooming sky,
And only a couple of feet to fall whenever I want to die.

Great find, Dezh!
And I could even make use of it - I found Lanoe Hawker's crash site with help of the Chassaud Collection!"
I'll post it soon!
