I remember the ps2 and xbox 360 era, we had bad ports, some games were buged, other were too intensive on a superior hardware if you considered the plataform they came from, and the excuse was always the same, its harder to code on pc becouse of more instances of diferent hardware, the archteture is not the same as consoles yada yada.
Then came the NEXT next gen, and we all breath in relief that maybe finally PC ports will be better becouse of the similarity of hardware..and yet here we are.....of all the titles released for PC that debuted on consoles, almost ALL of them are still unplayable for some uses, be it becouse the game doesnt even load, or it crash to desktop after some time, bad performance, stutters all around....and this on big AAA titles, like watchdogs, Assassin creed unity, dragon age inquisition, and dead rising 3, so far the only game i saw runing without problems was shadow of mordor.
WTF happened ? did developers forgot pc do not have integrated GRam ? it seems all the 3 gb or 4gb minimuns req for cards stems from texture, and this cause the stutter problem.
Many games seem to have been visually denegrated in order to favor a inferior plataform, dragging everyone down with it, if a single console maker can make that push, why can't Intel, AMD and NVidia, Corsair, do the same for PC ? A beef pc is not cheap, and we keep their market. why bother invest in a machine when something cheaper provide me less headache ? their market is already almost stale, they always need a excuse to keep pushing their graphic card scam market, they will dry up.

It's all about sales, bro. Companies appeal to the lowest common denominator: the biggest market. Most gaming companies are run by suits not gamers. A bunch of bean counters. They don't care about the best technology. They care only about sales. If they thought they could make more money by taking us all the way back to Pong, they would do it.

it is a scam, take a look at what the card on the current consoles can do, and what we neede to have the same graphics on pc,they always make it seem we need the newest card, use cheat coding on their drivers....and a old hardware is on par.so yes, it is a scam.

Is it that time of year again? PC is dying again? Better grab my defibs There will always be crappy ports and crappy games and crappy companies, the benefit of the PC is the versatility and the hidden gems and that's not something any console can replace right now.

until consoles can run games at 1080p Native across multiple displays (3+) for 5760x1080 at 60Fr/ps without downsampling or dipping to 30 FPS, Then no, Consoles have not overtaken PCs

I have bought my last console, I do know that. I will try to make my PS3 last as long as I possibly can. I will always have a gaming PC. I just bought a new graphics card to keep my three year old PC going for as long as possible. I'm squeezing every last dime out of it.
Consoles will never be able to run Assetto Corsa or DCS World. So I will need a PC.

After experiencing the better performance of Diablo3 on my PS4 compared to my PC, I actually decided to take the $300 I had planned for a GPU upgrade this year to keep up with the new games and spent it on a XBOne instead, my GTX670 still works fine for the sims and strategy games I like to play on PC (MWO, FSX, AssettoCorsa), and current new blockbuster games seem to run better on PS4/XBone than they do when ported to PC.
This way I can just choose to buy what I want on the platform that the reviews say runs the best, and the console will run the new stuff for the next bunch of years.

It's all about sales, bro. Companies appeal to the lowest common denominator: the biggest market. Most gaming companies are run by suits not gamers... Most gamers are not nearly wealthy enough to buy or upgrade a gaming PC every couple of years. Nobody on this forum could be considered "lower middle class" (my hunch only of course). PC gaming is for the rich or nearly so.

But how long will that really be? Other than RTS, I can see the others going away. Racing sims all turning into consolized cross-platform dumbed-down versions and flight sims disappearing.
I would not be at all surprised if in 5+ years RTS and MMO games are the only games made natively for the PC. I wouldn't be happy, but I wouldn't be surprised.
Besides, have you bought Il-2: BoS? Have you bought the UH-1H, the P-51D, the 109, the 190D, the MiG-21, the F-86 for DCS? You say "as long as" but you largely play older ones.

I will eventually buy IL-2: BoS after it's had a few patches. I will also get some of the other DCS modules as soon as there are coop missions made for them.

Considering the stampede of mission makers to make publicly released coop missions, I'm sure that will be any day. It's not like they hoard them to force people to only fly them on their servers. They're very magnanimous and eager to share their missions with all, there's no petty jealousy over other servers using their missions, not at all.

The Jedi Master If you haven't yet, you should check out Assetto Corsa, it is definitely not a consolized PC racing sim, IMHO it actually gives iRacing a run for it's money physics and race sim wise. I think PC sim and gaming is not going anywhere, the consoles mainly provide a great cost effective option for the big budget titles each year.
