hi all - like so many of you i am eagerly awaiting the imminent 2.0 smile

and i haven't even scratched the surface on the wonderful 1.26 yet!!

still flying off of my laptop and never did get around to the computer upgrade yet so it all gets rather laggy when i set the graphics up to higher settings.

at any rate i have searched, unsuccessfully for images of woff on an 'ultrawide' monitor ... i really like the idea of more of a 'letter box' view and was curious to see just what it would look like or what might be gained in 'immersion' as well

the other day locally when getting another quote on a possible computer 'build' (more on that later) i saw they had an ultrawide monitor on display - an lg 29" 21:9 and asked if i could plug my lap top in to see if WOFF (and ROF) would work well.

below are some shots (forgive the quality) comparing views at the store and on my home monitor (Asus ProArt)

you can see from references similar to each image (wing wires or field patterns in external views) that the ultrawide gives a much nicer field, at least in my opinion - it looked fantastic and i for one will certainly look to get this type of monitor - likely a 34" as they are coming down in prices now (of course ultimate hope is that our two fav ww1 flight sims will some day not too far off also handle occulus too!)

just thougth others may have been wondering about this so here are a few images

cheers, Ron

later today i will scan the previous and current 'build' lists the locally guys gave me so i can get some input on a rig to buy and go order it too!! smile

thanks so much OBD for all of your hard work / efforts

S!

Did you also try a 144 or 120Hz monitor????
Or a ultra high resolution monitor???

Excellent. I'm getting the 34" model and was also wondering what it would look like. Thanks for the pics.

Look for Hi-Res displays like IPS or 4K which have a better resolution than TN, LED or LCD ones and that will help with spotting specks or archie in the distance. The other displays will have better "response times", but you won't notice unless you play professional FPS tournaments. I've switched over to IPS a while back am glad I did it.

I can see archie go off and then notice the flickering specks at around 3 Km. (NOTE: dots are OFF)
