I was thinking of getting DX 11 for another game but dont know if it will work on WOFF . Any one know ?

Yes DX 11 worked fine with WOFF on my Win 7 Pro 64-bit machine.

The only issue was WOFF would crash if I tried to use the shader mod. On advice I was given here I installed DX 9 also and all is well.
System info still lists my machine as DX 11 so both versions can apparently happily live together.

Yes, DirectX 11 and DirectX 9 do not conflict with each other. You can install and update them in any order.
Although I believe DX 11 comes pre-installed since Win7 thus I'm not sure you ever need to install it manually.

The annoying thing is that even after installing DX 9 on top of or with DX11 the system still only shows DX11 installed. I know I have DX9 because the self-shadowing mod works just fine. Normal Micro$oft stuff-up I suppose.

Windows 7 has pre-installed directx 9, 10 and 11 (but not latest versions). WOFF will choose which directx files to use and they all must be there or it will give errors, so it's better to install directx redistributable to get latest version and missing files.

No, the last update was in June 2010 (and this is the one required by the shaders mod).
I wonder why they don't pre-install the latest version on modern OS.

Nope, Microsoft are working on directx 12. Latest version of DX9 is 9.0c.
