I would say the relationship itself is the complicated part.

Of all my horror stories I could tell from taking care of my poor dying mom for the last two years, plus some real tidbits of my own, here's my latest.

My Mom is on ALOT of pain meds, and has been for years. Yep, she's a legal drug addict and it's what's killing her, well besides old age.

Her "new" RN (registered nurse), after I had been telling her for the past two weeks that mom needs her main pain meds increased because of her constant complaining about pain and cramps (withdrawal symptoms in my opinion), says:

"Can't you just give her some Tylenol?"

Oh yeah, a couple of Tylenols are gonna help alleviate pain for someone who's on enough meds to severely incapacitate and maybe even kill an average person.

Fired her today, went around her and her boss to the doc and got the ok to up the dosage. She's back to normal now.

A piece of paper doesn't make you smart or even competent is all I am tryin to say.

If you marry it, it will die. Did they study that?

Yeah. Men are definitely... straightforward.

I don't think female libido is that complicated, not any more complicated than men. I think this is an arbitrary belief that keeps being spread. Men tend to have the more bizarre or deviant sexual preoccupations, men overwhelmingly commit the majority of sex crimes. Why is that not calculated into how warped or how complicated men are? Certainly the human race keeps growing, so evidently there is not something so convoluted that it messes that up.


I think it's modern societies that are complicated. If you look at primitive cultures, are they that complicated? Do they not procreate? Is there anywhere near the hangups and fetishes and commercialization and commodification of sexual behavior that goes on in the West? In some cultures, they walk around nude and it's not even an issue, no one in those societies are either turned on or repulsed it. You don't even see the men all excited about exposed breasts or anything.

Well that's because "I'm fine" if said by HER means "You know you will die a horrible death..."

"I'm fine" is a garbage response that deserves the third degree.

My proven replacement is "Actually, if you have an hour or so that you want to sit and listen quietly, I'd love to discuss the technical problems and engineering solutions, many of which may be dodgy, in the plane build that I'm mulling over. It's multipart and has many tangential explanations including aerodynamic and metallurgic theory and application. Any response other than 'uh huh' will be met with a lot of exposition involving historical background."

Wife: "Oh, hell, no, you have fun with thinking about that all to yourself."

it is topics like this that boost my feeling of being one of the lucky ones. My wife and I work together several days a week and at home on weekends we often help each other with projects. This carries over to all aspects of our marriage. We are having more fun than a couple of 18 year olds without the nagging fear of unexpected pregnancy.
